The Sea Island Golf Learning Center is the only school in the nation with three of Golf Digest’s "America’s 50 Greatest Teachers"—Todd Anderson, Jack Lumpkin and Gale Peterson. Renowned fitness trainer Randy Myers and distinguished sports psychologist Dr. Morris Pickens round out our multidisciplinary team.
Instructors
Jack Lumpkin
Jack Lumpkin is the Senior Director of Instruction at Sea Island. He worked for many years in the Golf Digest Schools (1976–2000). Jack was the 1995 PGA Teacher of the Year, was selected as the number one teacher in Georgia by Golf Digest in 2007, and was selected among the Top 50 Golf Teachers in America by Golf Digest for the past 10 years. As a player, Lumpkin competed in the U.S. Amateur and on the PGA Tour, in three U.S. Opens and the PGA Championship. He currently works with touring professionals Davis Love III and Vaughn Taylor, as well as numerous players vying for the opportunity to play on the PGA tour.  Jack was installed in the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame in January 2008.
Todd Anderson
Todd Anderson is the Director of Instruction for the Sea Island Golf Learning Center. A PGA professional since 1987, Todd is a contributing teacher for Golf Magazine. In addition to being ranked as one of “America’s 50 Greatest Teachers” by Golf Digest, he is one of Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 Teachers.” Professionals of the four major U.S. Golf Tours rely on Todd to improve their games.
Gale Peterson
Gale Peterson, LPGA and PGA member has provided private and group instruction at Sea Island since 1978. Gale was selected in 1996, 1999, 2001 and 2003 by Golf Magazine as one of the “100 Greatest Teachers.” And in 2000 and 2003, Gale was selected by Golf for Women as a Top 50 Women’s Teacher.
Mike Shannon
Mike Shannon is the creator of the Laser Optics Putting Improvement System that is being used by over 100 players on the Tour. He was named as a Top Teacher in both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine from 2000 to 2007.
Morris M. Pickens, Ph.D.
Dr. Morris Pickens, a sports psychologist, graduated from Clemson University and studied under Dr. Bob Rotella at the University of Virginia. “Dr. Mo,” as he’s affectionately called, works with numerous tour professionals, collegiate golf teams and amateurs of all levels. His focus includes developing effective preshot routines, efficient practice programs and productive mental strategies.  He provides sports psychology consulting for numerous amateur and professional golfers including 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson and PGA Tour winners and Sea Island Club members Lucas Glover and Jonathan Byrd.
Randy Myers
Randy Myers, Director of Fitness, specializes in golf fitness. Randy came to us from PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and is on the Advisory Board for the Titleist Performance Institute. Randy has worked with many tour professionals, and is currently working with Davis Love III.
Mike Cook
Mike Cook was selected among the top 15 teachers in Georgia by Golf Digest and has twice been named Teacher of the Year by Georgia PGA, East Chapter. His playing career included winning the Georgia PGA Championship in 1998. This University of Georgia graduate joined Sea Island Golf Club as a teaching professional in 1991.
Mike Taylor
Mike Taylor began teaching golf at Sea Island in 1989 and has been a Class-A teaching professional since 1995. His teaching successes include past and present PGA tour and collegiate players.
Jared Zak
Jared Zak is a PGA member and a graduate of the Professional Golf Management program at Mississippi State University. He began teaching at Sea Island in 1999 and was named one of the Top 20 Instructors under the age of forty in Georgia in 2007 by Golf Digest.
