What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
There are so many! Here are 2:

    1. Having Kacee as my wedding manager! We had been friends and cabin-mates at Camp Seafarer in middle school, but hadn't kept in touch over the years. Talk about a small world! It was such fun not only getting to reconnect with her but also having the opportunity to plan my wedding with her. :)
    2. Once Jimmy and I made our grand exit, we were pretty jazzed up and needed some time for the adrenaline rush to recede, so we had a drink on the dock and then returned to the Cloister Garden to relive the experience and talk about our favorite memories from the day. We both had our own special moments that we were only then able to share with each other - right in the exact place we had said our vows a few hours before. I will forever treasure that moment.

How did you hear about Sea Island?
My family visited frequently when I was younger. When I began college, my parents decided to semi-retire here. I've always dreamed of getting married at Sea Island - the second Jimmy proposed under the Avenue of the Oaks, I said, "Please can our wedding be here?!"

If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
Eloise!!! I absolutely adored her and the amazing red-lipped kisses she would plant on my cheek...and all the older gentlemen's bald heads! She would always bring me rainbow sherbet with just the right amount of raspberry. :)

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
I didn't have a 'theme,' per se, but I love ginger jars, bright colors and pattern, so those were all elements we incorporated at the reception. My mom is the same way - we just wanted to have fun with it. We kept the ceremony decor pretty subdued because the Cloister Garden is gorgeous enough on its own. And we were blessed from above with the most spectacular weather. Having everything outside can be risky, but it was absolutely perfect.

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
Yes! Planning a wedding is overwhelming - I'm sure I had my moments - but the Sea Island and Vine Garden Market teams took my thousands of crazy ideas and brought them together beautifully - Sperry tent and all. I just wish we could do it again next June!

    Thank you!

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
When Andrew and I left our reception, we headed up to our honeymoon suite and decided to sit out on our balcony with a bottle of champagne to talk about the amazing day we just had. After awhile, we could see our friends and family leaving the River Bar, and they didn't realize we could hear them talking about what a great time they all had. Getting to rehash the bash both together and through the overheard stories of some of our favorite people was the perfect way to end the day.

How did you hear about Sea Island?
I'm the youngest of three, so my family had the tradition of vacationing in Sea Island every summer before I was even born. Some of my earliest memories include earning nickels from my parents for each rabbit I spotted as we cruised down the causeway, swimming the daddy-daughter race on July 4th at the Beach Club and delicately walking along the water hose that led down to the beach from the pool so the sand wouldn't scorch my feet.

If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
I went to Camp Cloister as many times as my parents would allow me in two weeks every year. I would wake up so excited for camp that I would ride my bike down Sea Island drive as fast as I could when the sun was still coming up. I was usually the first camper to arrive and last to leave every day. I just loved it.

And one of my funniest Sea Island memories was watching my best friend beat a man 10+ years older than her in the 4th of July belly flop contest. It was the loudest smack followed by the loudest applause I've ever heard... she earned that trophy!

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
Since the reception was outside by the ocean we wanted the decor to be light and airy with lots of light blues and creams/whites. The wedding team really understood what we wanted: simple but elegant, with lots of candles and cream/white flowers. The clear tent lined with lights was perfect for the outdoor setting, as it allowed us to enjoy the ocean views and sky - which luckily was perfectly clear that night. It was all absolutely beautiful.

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
Our experience could not have been better. Every part of the day was seamless and the wedding team nailed every detail. We wouldn't change a thing and look forward to celebrating many anniversaries at Sea Island.

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
Our favorite memory was walking into the Cloister Clubroom as the band announced the entrance of "Mr. and Mrs. James Riley McNab III"! It was so special to see our closest friends and family cheering us on to the dance floor for our first dance. Not to mention, the room looked fantastic! Our favorite wedding planning memory was the food tasting. We had so much fun with the chef creating our menu and tasting wines, and we were thrilled to be able to create our custom wedding cake with the talented Sea Island baker! It was also special for the ceremony to be held in the Cloister Chapel. We love attending Bill Barrow's services there when we visit, and we are now grateful to have it such an integral part of this important day in our lives!

How did you hear about Sea Island?
Jamie first visited Sea Island when he was three months old! He grew up vacationing in Sea Island with his family. We also first met each other at a friend's rehearsal dinner at Ocean Forest - so it was part of our relationship from the beginning! After we started dating, we vacationed together multiple times at Sea Island with our families. This all made it an easy choice when Jamie proposed - we both instantly knew that it would be the perfect spot to celebrate our wedding!

If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
Jamie has the best memories from visiting every August growing up. He loved ping pong in the Gazebo, fishing off the Cloister dock, golf with his dad, and bingo twice a week! His sisters also both got married in Sea Island, and he loves sharing that connection with his siblings as well.

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
We wanted everything to be sophisticated, timeless and elegant, so we went with white roses and hydrangeas, areca palms, silver candelabras, and blue & white china. We added touches of coral (which was inspired by my favorite nail polish color) with the bridesmaids' dresses and bouquets, and even included thistle in the bouquets and boutonnieres to highlight the McNab Scottish heritage.

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
We were very pleased! Kacee and Danielle made everything easy, especially for a bride living in NYC! We traveled down to Sea Island for a few different wedding planning meetings, and they were always efficient and organized. I trusted them and never worried that it wouldn't be handled! Throughout the wedding weekend, Kacee and Danielle were helpful to my entire family; we were able to enjoy the weekend and not worry with the minor details. I wish we could do it all over again :)

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
There are so many! Our first look in the Avenue of the Oaks was stunning and we loved the New Orleans-style trumpeters that surprised our guests at the end of the ceremony and lead us and our guests to the cocktail hour. We loved Mark's friends using me as a human limbo stick for the guests to dance under during the party!

How did you hear about Sea Island?
    Through Exclusive Resorts

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
We wanted the beautiful setting of the Cloister to shine. We tried to create an elegant garden feel.

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
We loved working with Elizabeth and the entire Sea Island team. Elizabeth kept us confident and excited every step of the way and executed every event of the wedding weekend beautifully. Our guests fell in love with Sea Island just like we did!

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
Saying "I do" and kissing Lew for the first time as my husband. We then held hands and led guests from the chapel to the Beach Club alongside a gospel choir joyfully singing "Oh Happy Day."

Also, seeing the people who matter most to us having a great time together in our favorite place brought us so much joy. We felt so loved that they traveled the distance to celebrate our wedding. I vividly remember seeing everyone laughing, smiling, dancing, jumping, hopping on & off the stage, and even steam coming off of the lead singer's head - it was incredible! Fortunately, all of this was well documented.

How did you hear about Sea Island?
Sea Island has always been a special place to me as I have many happy memories vacationing there with friends and family throughout childhood. My grand parents honeymooned there 60 years ago! Lewie and I also spent time in Sea Island with his family while we were dating, so it became a meaningful and beautiful setting for our wedding.

If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
I love celebrating holidays in Sea Island. Nothing gets you in the spirit like the festivities and traditions of The Cloister. I will always remember watching fireworks on the beach on July 4th and the magnificent Christmas tree in lobby in December.

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
I'm kind of an old-fashioned girl at heart and was inspired by photos of Vanessa Traina's intimate wedding and romantic candlelit dinner. It was one of the chicest weddings I'd ever seen. Since my sister chose to marry in a large, hometown wedding two months before ours, I opted for an intimate affair with family and close friends and knew we could easily recreate this ambiance in Sea Island. For the seated dinner, we chose estate tables with low, lush white and green flower arrangements, including ranunculus, sweet peas, peonies, garden roses and dusty miller. I also incorporated some vintage details from my grandmother's southern wedding and kept my bouquet simple and loose with phaleonpsis orchids. After dinner we danced in a beautiful, clear-top tent with a chandelier hanging over the dance floor filled with flowers and and greenery, also inspired by my grandmother's wedding.

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
Magical. It was a dream come true to get married in Sea Island. My wedding planners, Kacee Popa and Melissa Ippensen, brought my vision to life, and I will never forget seeing the Ocean Room and tent for the first time after the ceremony. I was stunned it was so gorgeous. No detail was left untouched, even those only mentioned briefly, such as lit up palm trees peering through the tent and a cozy fire during dinner. If this is any indication, I hugged my parents AND my planners on the grand exit!

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
I loved getting to share such a special place with all of our friends and families and getting to marry to Ted! It's hard to pick a favorite memory...from BINGO on Thursday, to a lovely rehearsal dinner full of toasts, to our very special wedding and reception, and getting to spend the night in the lovely Cloister hotel...I don't know if I could pick a favorite memory-maybe the weekend as a whole!

How did you hear about Sea Island?
I've been coming to Sea Island every year since I was 7!

If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
Getting engaged on the beach at Sea Island Thanksgiving 2014 is my favorite memory. Working on Junior Staff for two summers while I was in college was a wonderful experience for me too-what's better than living at Sea Island for a whole summer!

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
My mom and I went through a ton of magazines and pictures of weddings we had previously attended and put together some of our favorites. We then worked with the team to find an original theme that felt just perfect for Ted and me and our wedding.

How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
The whole wedding team was willing to work with us to ensure that everything was just how we wanted it to be and made sure that every concern and detail was addressed and just how we wanted it. We had the perfect wedding weekend that all of our friends and family are still talking about. Everything was perfect and more than we could have imagined!

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
It is impossible to choose just one! I loved driving up to the Avenue of the Oaks for our first look. I was so excited to see Jon and finally show him my wedding dress. I loved the moments of anticipation while walking up to him and seeing his facial expression when he turned around to see me for the first time. We both loved our yihud - the private time between the husband and wife after a Jewish ceremony. We went for a walk along Black Banks River and played Bocce ball (we even put a little wager on it). As for my husband, his favorite memory was our first dance. We were both so nervous for the first dance; but, when we stepped on the dance floor, it was like the rest of the wedding disappeared. It was just us dancing underneath the twinkling lights and night sky next to the beach.

How did you hear about Sea Island?
Sea Island has always been a very special place to my family. My parents honeymooned on Sea Island 33 years ago. Fast forward a few years and my parents started taking us down for yearly summer vacations to enjoy the beach and fun activities. When Jon and I were dating, he started coming to Sea Island with us every summer and became part of the family tradition. We loved walking along the beach together, taking pictures, and looking at houses. Knowing what a special place it was to me, Jon arranged a trip to Sea Island over a long weekend. While on one of our walks along the beach, he dropped to one knee and squeaked out a nervous "will you marry me?" Obviously, I said yes! We spent the rest of the weekend enjoying our favorite spots and activities, celebrating our engagement. When it came time to choose a venue for our wedding, Sea Island was always our first choice. I was never a girl that pictured my wedding day, but somehow I always knew that it was going to be at Sea Island. My grandma even remembers walking through the Cloister with me when I was a little girl and me saying "I am going to get married here." Getting married on my parents' anniversary where they honeymooned just made Sea Island an even more perfect place for our wedding.

If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
So many of my favorite memories took place in Sea Island! Growing up, I would go on "Digger Walks" where I would walk down the beach and collect those little clams that dig into the sand after the wave recedes. My brothers and I would collect them in a clear cup to watch them dig to the bottom and scare away the sandpipers trying to eat them. I always loved spending time with my grandparents on Sea Island. My grandpa and I would compose songs about our everyday Sea Island activities - "The Laundromat Jive" was an instant classic in the family. Then there was Sunday brunch at the Lodge, which was always a family favorite. We would stake out the fried chicken station until a fresh batch came out and then would race to get all the legs before anyone else. There are so many more family memories that I could devote an entire page to them!

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
As Sea Island is so rooted in our family tradition, we really wanted to bring that out at our wedding. We wanted every guest to feel like a part of the tradition and to get a sense of why we loved Sea Island. Each guest received a monogramed Sea Island welcome tote filled with information about our favorite activities and restaurants on the island, Byrd's Georgia Peach Cooler Cookies, Georgia peanuts, M&Ms, and Sea Island tumblers. There were golfing events to include everyone in my dad and Jon's favorite Sea Island past time. We had our welcome dinner on Rainbow Island and made sure to have our favorite Sea Island foods - corn muffins, fried chicken, oysters, and peach and blueberry cobbler - for all our guests to enjoy. The wedding was filled with family details - we signed our ketubah in the Spanish Lounge where my brother and I used to play the piano for my family, used family heirlooms during the ceremony, and displayed family wedding photographs at the reception. For the reception, we moved all of our guests to my favorite place on Sea Island- the beach! We loved having our wedding ceremony at the hotel and the dinner and reception at the Beach Club so that our guests could get a glimpse of the whole resort.

As for the décor, we aimed for a classic chic feel overall. The wedding décor was purposely simple to allow the beauty of the garden to stand on its own. The décor at dinner had a more glamorous feel with sequined table runners, thick runners of flowers, mercury glass, and flickering light from candles. The architecture of the ocean room is very elegant and we wanted to complement the feel. We then transitioned to a more casual feel with brighter colored flowers for the reception in the tent. The clear top tent with string lighting was perfect against the night sky and we used wooden accents in the furniture. Everything turned out perfectly!

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
We could not have been happier with how the wedding turned out! Everywhere we looked there was something beautiful and elegant to see. The dinner tables and the tent took everyone's breath away. The team at Sea Island was wonderful to work with and they did an amazing job making our vision come alive. Elizabeth and Kacee made sure that we had a perfect day from finding a matching groomsmen tie when one went missing before the ceremony, tracking down a missing babysitter, and even helping with dinner service. Melissa and Kathryn's vision, creativity, and attention to detail were apparent at both Rainbow Island and the Beach Club. We couldn't be happier about how our special day turned out!
