Throughout 2018, we are celebrating our 90th birthday and kicking off the celebration this New Year’s Eve. Join us Thursday for a cooking demo surrounding the recipes of famed Southern chef S. R. Dull followed by a “Sea Island History” lecture with archivist Mimi Rogers. For those little ones tagging along on the trip, be sure to pack those pirate and princess outfits for our Pirate Party and Princess Tea Party. Anyone up for Bingo? We’ve got two scheduled on Thursday to begin the weekend in true Sea Island style.
Friday brings another lecture as we look back to one of the biggest events in our tenure, the 2004 G-8 Summit hosted by President George W. Bush. Enjoy a Roaring 20’s Cocktail Hour in the Georgian Room Lounge then head outdoors for a Low Country Boil on the Black Banks Terrace later that evening. Saturday arrives with every child’s favorite program, Cookie Cutters, then the toughest decision of the day will be choosing between Rainbow Island Supper and the Family Night at the Beach Club.
Finish out 2017 strong with our New Year’s Eve 5K on Saturday then relax as you prepare for the evening’s festivities. To ring in the New Year, we have three different celebrations, each in their own style. Celebrate in grand 1920’s fashion at The Cloister where a variety of dining options, live music, and dancing awaits you. The Lodge is the place to be for a sophisticated and swanky evening with live entertainment, casino games, and a DJ in the Men’s Locker Room. And at last, the Beach Club is perfect for families looking for entertainment and fun in a casual setting. However you choose to celebrate, we have the perfect evening planned for you. But the party doesn’t end at midnight. Start 2018 off on the right foot as you run towards the Atlantic at our annual Polar Bear Plunge.
With so many programs packed into the weekend, we only scratched the surface of what is taking place. See the full schedule of events in our New Years Brochure below.
