Greg O’Brien, an award-winning investigative journalist and author, was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 59, just like his mother and grandfather. Acting on long-term memory and skill, coupled with a well-developed journalistic grit, Greg decided to tackle the disease and his imminent decline by writing frankly about the journey. Greg is a master storyteller and shares his experiences with the disease in the book On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer’s. A book about hope, faith and humor, On Pluto is about living with Alzheimer’s, not dying with it. Greg is also co-host of the public radio podcast “The Forgetting: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer’s.”
Nearly 6 million people in the U.S. have the disease today, and that number could reach 14 million by 2050. Mr. O’Brien will be introduced by Tim Armour, Cure Alzheimer’s President and CEO.
Event is complimentary and open to Resort Guests and Sea Island Club members. Books will be available for purchase. Reservations required, .
