For over 90 years, Sea Island’s team members have been committed to and passionate about delivering gracious hospitality to our members and guests. And year after year, we have heard from those we serve that they would like to share their appreciation with our team for what they provide.
Because we consider ourselves a family at Sea Island, we understand that sometimes team members have unusual circumstances that can put them in difficult financial situations. There are also times where they or their family members may want to pursue educational opportunities that they cannot afford. These kinds of worries may distract our team from providing the Sea Island experience that they are so committed to providing, which can compound their worries.
With these things in mind, the Sea Island Legacy Fund was born.
The Legacy Fund is a 501-3c entity created for the benefit of Sea Island team members and their family members living in their homes, providing a way for them to apply for grants to assist during times of hardship or with educational opportunities.
This name was chosen with care, to help team members who receive a grant understand that they, like thousands of others before them, are part of the continuing legacy that is Sea Island.
All hourly and salaried team members who have been employed at Sea Island for a minimum of two years may apply. Each team member can only receive one grant in a given year, and no more than two in a five-year period.
In emergency situations, applying for a grant is not the first line of assistance, but should be done once other options have been explored and utilized.
A committee of nine Sea Island team members from the supervisor to director levels, drawn from across the company, will review grant requests each month or on an emergency basis if needed.
The committee will then pass their recommendations to the Legacy Fund Board for final approval. This volunteer Board includes the President and CEO of Sea Island, the Vice President of Human Resources, five Sea Island Club Members, and two Meeting Planners who have held events at Sea Island over the years.
