Their Story

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
Finally saying “I Do” in the Cloister Garden! The things that were so unique to a Sea Island wedding that I loved was the Cabana Pool Party with our wedding party on Thursday, the beautiful bridal suite overlooking the river, seeing the photos of the men getting ready in Sea Island’s famous Men’s Locker Room at the Lodge, the bag piper that lead our guests along the river walk to the cocktail hour, the incredible cake made by the Sea Island team to match our wedding invitation, the sparkler sendoff as we drove away at the end of the night. I could go on and on! The most special Sea Island moment was our first look at the Avenue of the Oaks. It is simply the most beautiful, serene place imaginable and was the perfect place for Tim and I to enjoy a few quiet moments together before seeing everyone. We weren’t sure if we were going to do a first look but that ended up being one of my favorite memories and definitely some of my favorite photos.

How did you hear about Sea Island?
We live in NYC and wanted to get married outdoors in the spring so we started looking in the South. We went to Sea Island for a weekend trip and immediately fell in love with every single thing about the resort. Most of our friends and family had never been, so we were giddy thinking about sharing this amazing place with our guests. So many of our friends and family members told us that they too, couldn’t wait to come back!

If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
We did not grow up coming here but it’s a new tradition that we cannot wait to start with our own children someday!

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
If there’s one thing in nature that perfectly encapsulates all things Sea Island, it’s probably an oyster. It has a unique natural beauty on the outside, and is a little sneaky fancy on the inside. Sea Island has that perfect balance of breathtaking natural beauty and striking Mediterranean architecture. I love the pretty, soft colors in an oyster and given the local presence of them in the Golden Isles, as well as where my family is from near Cape Cod, we were inspired make ‘all things oyster’ a central theme for our décor.

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
We could not have been any happier with our experience at Sea Island. The entire team from the coordinators Kellie and Brooke, to the event design with Ashton and Carly and the amazing cake by the pastry chef, Katie were simply incredible! They truly thought of every detail and made our dream wedding weekend come to life.
