Sea Island’s beloved Tavola features equal parts bright Italian flair and warm Southern charm. Beautiful hand-painted tile wainscoting, eye-catching pops of vibrant red, and cozy caramel leather banquettes are the setting for our Italian fare and warm, old-world ambiance. Chef Alan is committed to providing an authentic Italian experience that combines traditional Italian ingredients and flavors in new and creative dishes. Enjoy homemade pasta, fresh seafood, and, of course, delicious pizzas that you can watch the chef prepare as he tosses dough in the air and stokes the fire in our wood-burning oven in the open pizza kitchen. Dine al fresco year-round, thanks to an enclosed porch and garden courtyard. The bar is stocked with wines from all 20 Italian wine regions, along with spirits that pair exceptionally well with Tavola’s fare, as do classic cocktails that are reinvented to reflect the region. The soul of Italy isn’t just found on the menu. It’s around the table, as friends and family gather to recount their day’s adventures while experiencing an exceptional meal together.

In Chef Alan's Own Words

My earliest memories are of being in the kitchen with my mother and grandmother, who taught me that food doesn’t need to be complicated to be delicious. I grew up helping my aunt in her small restaurant, where she wanted you to remember not just her food, but how you felt when you enjoyed it with others. Because of that, in my travels around Italy, I always looked for small family eateries where I could eat like a local. “When I am asked how a Mexican chef became the head chef at an Italian restaurant, I explain simply that it’s because there are many cultural similarities between the two cuisines. It’s not just ingredients and flavors, but the strong focus on food and how meals connect family and friends, rather than just being about eating. And now, I hope that your time in Tavola will give you a delicious dining experience and that you will leave with a warm heart.
