New Year’s at Sea Island

Wondering what to wear to your New Year’s Eve event? In keeping with the traditional Sea Island holiday dress code, each New Year’s Eve event has been designated with specific dress requirements. Appropriate attire is required at 10 p.m. in all areas.

The Cloister: Black tie required after 10 p.m. Prior to 10 p.m., individual restaurant dress codes are required.

Oak Room and Colt & Alison at The Lodge: Jacket and tie required. Black tie recommended.

Beach Club: Resort casual; well-kept denim is acceptable.

Reservations are required for most holiday events, activities, and wristbands for New Year’s Eve. Make reservations online or contact our Reservations team. Our agents can help you book, update the number of guests in your party, or cancel your reservations. Holiday cancellations require advance notice to avoid unnecessary cancellation fees.

Wristbands must be cancelled prior to December 28. After wristbands are picked up, they are non-returnable and non-refundable.

Guests of The Cloister and The Lodge

Wristbands are sold separate for the Beach Club and The Cloister.

• Complimentary wristbands will be provided at check-in for guests ages 25 years and older attending The Cloister celebrations. The Cloister will be restricted to ages 25 years and older at 10 p.m. on December 31.
• For guests of The Cloister and The Lodge attending the family-friendly Beach Club Celebration, wristbands are required and will be provided at the event entrance. Pricing for the event is $190/adult, $50/child (ages 4-12).

Guests of Sea Island Cottages

Cottage guests attending either The Cloister or Beach Club Celebrations must reserve and pickup wristbands in advance of the events. Pick up is offered at the Cottage Rentals Office on December 29, 30, and 31 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Any wristbands not picked up during the allotted times will be available for pickup on December 31 at The Cloister Concierge desk from 3 – 9 p.m. Beach Club Celebration bands can be picked up at the entrance of the Beach Club at the start of the event.

Wristbands are sold separate for the Beach Club and The Cloister.

• For Cottage guests attending The Cloister celebration, wristbands are $150/person and the number of wristbands allowed per cottage is based on the number of bedrooms (2 wristbands per bedroom) in your cottage. The Cloister will be restricted to ages 25 years and older at 10 p.m. on December 31.
• For Cottage guests attending the family-friendly Beach Club Celebration, wristbands are required and must be picked up in advance of the event. Pricing for the event is $190/adult, $50/child (ages 4-12). Beach Club Celebration bands can also be picked up at the entrance of the Beach Club at the start of the event.

• Traffic going to The Cloister will be directed through the roundabout to 4th Street.
• Uber, Lyft, and taxis will use The Cloister Ballroom portico for drop-off and pick-up.
• Valet parking will be available at The Cloister Front Entrance (Main Portico)
• Self-parking will be available at the Beach Club only and will be limited.
• Complimentary Shuttles will run continuous loops from The Lodge and Retreat Bag Drop to The Cloister Ballroom Portico approximately every 15 minutes, from 5 p.m.-2 a.m. Due to heavy volume on St. Simons and Sea Island, there may be delays.
• Sea Island Shuttles will run continuous loops down Sea Island Drive, stopping every fifth street. Loops will run between 5 p.m.-2 a.m. Shuttles will stop at 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th, 50th, and 55th Streets.

The Cloister will only be open to ages 25 and older beginning at 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Dining reservations at The Cloister that include individuals under the age of 25 must be made for 8:30 p.m. or earlier.

Until 10 p.m. the dress code will be based on each restaurant’s standard dress code. Beginning at 10 p.m. black tie is required.

Enjoy a magical New Year’s Eve fireworks display at 10 p.m. over the Sea Island beach. At 9:30 p.m., members and guests of all ages can enter the Beach Club to access the fireworks without a wristband.

At midnight, members and guests with a Cloister wristband can ring in the New Year with a fireworks show over the Black Banks River at The Cloister.

Wristbands for Members and Their Guests

Wristbands are required for all Sea Island Club members and their guests who want to enjoy the festivities at The Cloister or Beach Club on New Year’s Eve. The Cloister wristbands are not included with dinner reservations.

Purchase Wristbands

• Purchase wristbands for The Cloister Celebrations for you and your guests by reserving with Member Reservations. Limit 6 per Sea Island Club member account. All members and guests must be 25 or older to access The Cloister after 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.

• New Year’s Eve Family Beach Club Celebration is open to all ages. Your reservation includes Beach Club wristbands.

Pick Up Wristbands

For The Cloister and Beach Club Celebrations, pick up your wristbands from the Membership office on December 29, 30, and 31 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Any Cloister wristbands not picked up during the allotted times will be available for pickup on December 31 at The Cloister Concierge desk from 3 – 9 p.m. Beach Club Celebration bands can be picked up at the entrance of the Beach Club at the start of the
event.

• Wristbands must be picked up by a Sea Island Club member, who must present their Sea Island Club membership card and a government-issued ID.
• You must be 25 years or older to pick up bands for The Cloister Celebrations.

Accompanied and Unaccompanied Member Guests

Sea Island Club members must accompany their guests with wristbands unless they have a temporary membership card.

Beginning at 10 p.m. on December 31, The Cloister will be restricted to ages 25 and up with wristbands. Black tie will be required. 

Each Sea Island member may accompany two guests with wristbands to The Cloister or Beach Club New Year’s Eve Celebrations. If you plan to bring more than two guests or if your guests will not be present with you at all times, they will need unaccompanied guest cards to access the facilities, in addition to the wristbands.

Sea Island Club members must accompany their guests with New Year’s Eve wristbands unless they have a temporary guest card.
