When you close your eyes and think of Sea Island, what do you see? Family vacations? Romantic anniversary weekends? Our guests have shared their cherished Sea Island memories from the past 90 years. Explore their stories and share your own.
Mount Airy, MDWe came here 34-years ago for our honeymoon. We had a great time and always wanted to come back. Well, here we are! Celebrating our anniversary and creating more memories!!
Cincinati, OHFrom 5 years old to 25, our family vacationed at Sea Island for the month of August. This stretched from the 60's until the 80's. My four sisters and I loved every minute spent there. From Jeep train rides on the beach, to Sunday swimming sports and diving for quarters. Gold Brick sundaes from Herman, who ran the snack stand. Playing tennis and golf. Bingo and dancing afterwards. Sunday buffet that was so unbelievable. Having to only sign for anything. How much were 5 bikes for a month! Make life long friends who went with me crabbing, bike riding, or basically sitting at the Beach Club all day. THE BEST PLACE TO VACATION IN THE USA!!
Atlanta, GAHaving returned to Sea Island every year of my life (62 years & counting...) to “recharge my batteries” The Tradition Continues, & I haven’t won Bingo yet, though my odds improve every year! Lifetime Memories has left sand in my shoes that will never come out! Our Family has enjoyed 3 Generations of This Happy Island’s unique Hospitality for Families & Friends.
Miami, FLMy parents LOVED Sea Island. In the early 50's, they left all 5 of us at home in New York with a sitter and went there to renew their marriage vows. It led to this brief narrative about my Mother's (Margaret Frances) "most embarrassing moment", when they attended a cocktail party at The Cloister. "What was your most embarrassing moment?" "When my slip fell off at a cocktail party at Sea Island, Georgia. I just picked it up and went in...."
Macon, GAWow where to even begin! My Sea Island memories began as a young child! My family and I went down just about every summer. Camp cloister was the highlight of my trip. I always admired my councilors and wanted to be just like them. Several years later my dreams finally came true and I was a junior staffer for two summers. During my first year I met my husband who was a local and several years later he proposed on the Sea Island Lodge golf course! It was the best surprise ever. We had a wonderful night staying at the lodge! These are just a few of my favorite Sea Island memories. And we look forward to many more with our family!
Andover, MAWe had our first family vacation at the cloister. My son was 11 months at the time and had the time of his life! My best friend got married there, we celebrated my mom’s 60th birthday and I had the trip of a lifetime in college with my best friend. Sea Island holds so many memories for me and for my family.
Wyckoff, NJBingo with Big George of course! Growing up with multiple trips made to Sea Island each and every year, Big George became a staple of our vacation. His smile was enough to illuminate the whole island. He made bingo a giant affair and was responsible for creating memories my family and I will never forget and cherish forever. Knowing it was Thursday was so thrilling just because it was Bingo night and occassionally George would join me and my cousins out on the dancefloor afterwards. Still seeing familiar faces around the property is one of the many reasons why my family and I love Sea Island so much and feel right at home. Thank you George!!!
Huntersville, NCMy wedding!!!!!! My husband and I were married in the Sea Island Chapel and the entire day was magical. From check in to check out, the Sea Island Staff was on point making sure our entire stay was flawless. We have been back multiple times since and every time, we are always treated like celebrities. Even after the big day, many of our wedding guests have planned trips back down to Sea Island because they had that much fun! If I could live in The Cloister I would.
Mount Pleasant, SCMy now husband and I went to Sea Island for our honeymoon. Staying at The Cloister completely blew away our expectations. The customer service and attention to detail was incredible, even down to anticipating when I needed more milk for my coffee without me having to ask. We lucked out with amazing weather at the end of February to explore the property and the beach, and every corner was gorgeous! We ended our trip with an amazing meal listening to a bagpiper on the golf course. Truly an unforgettable experience. We’ve already decided that this will be our anniversary spot as well!
Birmingham, ALFor the first 25 years of my life, June 16th was my favorite day. This is the day our Sea Island vacation began. The next 2 weeks would be the best of my summer, most of which were spent in cottages 29 and 30 on 8th Street. The entire Bethea clan would spend 2 weeks swimming, biking, crabbing, and charging goldbrick sundaes to their magic Sea Island number. (Ask anyone in my family and we can still recite our charge numbers.) We loved jeep train rides, finding shells at the end of the Island, and chip and putt. We were such a large group that there would often multiple members of the family that won bingo in the same night. These summers and the memories (that are too numerous to count) we share are treasured by all of us.
Charlotte, NCWe came to Sea Island for our second visit in July. This was an important trip as it was suddenly our only family vacation for the summer due to the fact that my husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer on May 31st. We were able to stay for 4 nights in the Fernandina Suite at the Cloister and enjoy a post-colon surgery/pre-chemo trip. We took full advantage of the amenities and enjoyed the pool, spa, stables, and fishing. My husband and I also shared a lot of tears on the veranda overlooking the river at night. The trip was bittersweet. We were having a blast but we knew our lives would change when we returned home. Sea Island and the Cloister is one of our favorite places. We look forward to making a cancer free victory trip back!
Atlanta, GAIt began the summer we turned 21, our courtship sparked under the Sea Island sun. As wedding plans were made, there was only 1 choice for the 1987 honeymoon affair, River House, Sunday seafood buffet and oh, we were the final bingo winning pair! Every summer our extended families gathered and new friends were made, Junior camps, cookie cutters, gold bricks and 4th of July parades. As the years passed, the tides and the kids grew, A future husband was met under fireworks and another wedding ensued! 25 years later an anniversary at The Lodge was celebrated, we sat back and reminisced on all the memories created. We cannot imagine a summer without SEA ISLAND, It's the continuation of a family tradition that keeps us smiling!
Duluth, GASea Island brings back so many memories but the memory that stands out the most was our first family vacation. My husband and I got so brave and decided to take our quadruplets to Sea Island over forth of July. To say it was magical is an understatement. My favorite memory was the night we all got dressed up for dinner. The kids were so excited to see their mom and dad in black tie. But the look on their little faces when they saw me all dressed up was priceless. Sea island will always be our top vacation destination.
Winnetka, ILThere has never been a time in my life when Sea Island was not my favorite place in the world. Every summer, my family travels down south to stay at the Cloister, which has become a second home to us. The food, the beach, and the sun are second to none, but what makes Sea Island the most special are the people who treat us like family. I know our summer tradition will continue for many generations to come when we bring our children and grandchildren to the Cloister. Jumping for joy is what we want to do every morning...thats is, until we realize vacation is over until next summer.
Wilmington, NCMy family and I have started the tradition of staying at The Cloister for New Years. It’s a wonderful way to get away after the business of the holidays and just be together as a family. The staff takes such good care of us so we can relax and just be. Our children love the family party at the beach club on New Year’s Eve and the fun games and amazing food they get to try. We all stay up until midnight and watch the fireworks from the beach. The next morning, they get up and take a cold dip in the ocean at The Polar Plunge! It just doesn’t get much better than that! We look forward to returning every year and love making these sweet memories in beautiful Sea Island.
West Palm Beach, FLI recently made a new favorite memory at the Beach Club. The rains came heavy and I had to retreat under the overhang. The storm passed and took with it the winds needed for the Skipper to sail our Hobie Cat. We waited out the windless sea. Finally the winds returned and we sailed for a bit in the slow wind. Sailed into a dead calm. Nothing. No wind. The crew was deciding to deploy the Jet Ski to pull us back in...and I jokingly said just bring Pina Coladas. The Jet Ski came and so did the Pina Coladas (Virgin that is!) !! What a treat & somehow the Jet Ski brought with it the winds, and we were able to Sail on! Thanks to all the crew for a fun and memorable trip! This Rainbow appeared over the water sports hut the next morning!
Carrollton, TXA number of years ago I traveled to Sea Island and stayed at The Cloister. I was there to conduct a signing session of items with Davis Love III to be offered for sale in the PGA Tour gift catalog and other places. Prior to arriving his agent asked if I wanted to play golf, which, of course I did! I drove in after dark, which in itself was interesting seeing trees like I'd never seen before. I spent a couple of hours with Davis, one of the nicest and most well spoken athletes I had ever met. He asked if I was set for golf that afternoon and I said yes. I later went in to the pro shop and the pro behind the counter said, "Oh your Davis's friend! I said, I am now!!" I had a great round of golf - and created a lifelong memory.
Jacksonville, FLSea Island will always mean a lot to me because my favorite golfer, Davis Love III lives there. My son is also named after this golfing great. I was fortunate enough to spend my 5th year wedding anniversary in St. Simons and was able to play a round of golf with my wife on the Retreat course. Even though we weren’t able to stay at this beautiful resort at the time, I would love the opportunity to stay there and experience all the resort encompasses.
Thomaston, CTWhen I close my eyes and I think of my visits to Sea Island, I smile. I smile with joy because every time that I have visited, it has been with loved ones. I have been there with my mother and sister and had a glass of wine in the beautiful lobby of the Cloisters. We looked in awe at the gorgeously decorated Christmas tree and listened to holiday carols. We even played bingo in the ballroom and laughed at the sheer fun of the evening. What these memories give me is the desire to do this trip with my two daughters. I want them to have these wonderful memories too.
Franklin, WIOur love for Sea Island started years ago with my father. Known as Bunker Bob to so many. Born in Chicago the same year sea island was formed, in 1928. Both turning 90! These two have plenty in common. They are truly one of a kind, beautiful and loved by so many. His song: “Just a little bit east of Brunswick a short way out to sea there lies a bit of paradise which will always be home for me. It’s covered with birds and flowers and surrounded by stormy seas. It’s long and it’s thin and there’s a bit of the wind on the island by the sea. The tides roll in and the tides roll out, the people check in and the people check out, but never you and me. For this is our home and we will never roam, from the island by the sea.” Robert T. Mangan 1974
Warner Robins, GASeveral years ago my brothers and I had a brothers weekend at Sea Island. We played both the Sea Side Course as well as the Plantation Course. Not only was the golf great with amazing views, but the service we received was impeccable. The food was delicious and the accommodations were incredible. We wanted to make it a yearly trip, but we were unable to sync our schedules in order to make another trip happen. Sadly, one of my brothers passed away in December of 2017. While we will never be able to have a brother's trip with all of us together we do have some incredible memories that were created there at Sea Island and I am forever grateful for those memories.
Buffalo, NYEven though my family lives at the Beach Club when we go to Sea Island, none of us ever wanted to go in the "cold pool" at the old Beach Club. Even for New Yorkers, it was usually too cold. One year, our daughter Laura got it into her head that she wanted to learn how to do a backflip off the diving board. One of the ever patient Sea Island lifeguards spent a few minutes helping her and before we knew it she'd taught Laura how to do a backflip. Laura spent the rest of the trip perfecting her dive in that freezing cold pool having the time of her life. She went on to become a championship diver back home - all thanks to Sea Island! Luckily, we caught a picture of the first time she nailed it in the diving pool at the old Beach Club.
Buffalo, NYWhen my kids were little, we'd get up, head down to the Beach Club and spend the day digging holes, jumping waves and occasionally relaxing. Our boys would usually fall asleep on the walk back home along the beach. One day, Bobby was awake and got all excited when he saw a yellow stuffed duck with a fleece blanket body laying in the sand. He wanted to take it home but I said it belonged to someone and they may be looking for it. Everyday, he'd run out to see if the duck was there. Days passed and the duck was still unclaimed, covered in sand, smelly and dirtier than ever. We took him home, washed him up and he was just like new. That night Bob had his Easter picture taken on the table in the Cloister Lobby with his new best friend, Duckie.
Frisco, TXWe had been once before in 2011. My husband, me, our 2 year old son, my folks & my brother. To say we fell in love would be the biggest understatement of the century. We promised ourselves we would return as often as we could, but naturally life happened. I got pregnant with our second which we sadly lost, my brother found his amazing future wife and we couldn’t make it the following summer... or the next. By Sept 2013, we all agreed it was time to book our next S.I. adventure for July 2014. We couldn’t wait. Then out of nowhere, we learned a baby girl was on the way for us. I remember telling my mom, ‘I just want her to get here, be healthy and be next to me on the beach...’ And before you knew it, she was...Baby Brooke @ 12 weeks.
Houston, TXTennis, tennis and more tennis! If I wasn’t in tennis clinics, I spent a lot of time watching my father, Mike Mills, play the game he loved so much. He played twice a day some days. Also organized tournaments with his large group of friends who would meet up in Sea Island every summer (Month of July) . They even created their own trophies and called it the “Sea Island Cup”. My dad passed away almost 9 years ago. I’m entering this memory and photo in his honor. The year was 1979 and my father (in yellow shorts) is pictured with one of his best friends, Charlie. Sea Island was such a special place to him and our family. And Sea Island tennis was one of his best times.
Bernardsville, NJThe Plantation Supper as we now know it used to be known as the “Fish Fry” and my favorite memory when we were kids....when it was held up on the beach north of 36th street, the current site of Ocean Forest. My memories are clear as day....a rustic setting, the wonderful southern music, hush puppies, and wandering free through the greenery and shrubbery..and of course, the Jeep train! I am a third generation Sea Island cottage owner, currently sharing the magic with our children, the fourth McBride generation!!
Watkinsville, GAMy parents honeymooned at The Cloister back in the late 70’s, and I can often remember them taking weekend getaways there as well. They love to talk about what they refer to as “The Old Cloister” and how there were no TVs in the rooms! They remember the attention to details Sea Island offers, like how everyone used to gather around the fireplace at night for milk and cookies. So naturally, when my husband and I were searching for an anniversary trip destination or weekend getaway, we chose Sea Island. It has always exceeded expectations and it’s fun to compare memories with my parents! We love the idea of keeping tradition. We would like to add a family trip with our boys sooner than later in hopes they will love it like we do!
Clermont, FLIt’s hard to choose just one favorite memory from my stays at Sea Island but I think I’d have to choose most recently celebrating my 16th wedding Anniversary at The Lodge. My husband and I have traveled many places over the years but Sea Island is honestly a place we hold very close to our hearts. We just love all the details and sincerity the employees show when we visit, it just feels like home. This year we had the most delicious dinner at Colt & Allison where we sat at a table covered in rose petals. Our waiter was outstanding and even made me the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever had. I’m already dreaming about our next visit!
Willowbrook, ILMy first trip to Sea Island was in 1958 as a young child with my family. We stayed in the River House. It was love at first sight for all of us! We returned each year. When I was married in 1970 my husband and I traveled to the Cloister to spend our honeymoon! The following year my husband was a server during the summer at the Cloister! We were expecting our first child at that time too. When it was time to go to the hospital Howard Jones told us to call him and he would escort us to Glynn Memorial Hospital as he was a volunteer fireman! Howard sat in the waiting room with my husband until our first baby girl was born! Since that year we have come back each year with our entire family.... now 4 married children and almost 10 grandchildren!
Savannah, GASea Island is a place of wonder for all ages. I remember celebrating a rather warm Thanksgiving on Sea Island. My maternal great-grandparents, grandma, parents, siblings, cousins, aunt, and uncle were all there. We decided to go boogie boarding since it was so warm, and my great-grandfather joined us! I also remember the kind staff members that knew my paternal great-grandmother because she had taught them back in the day. You feel like family at Sea Island. To this day I have cherished these memories which were made possible thanks to the variety of activities for a variety of generations that Sea Island provides.
McLean, VA15 years I’ve been coming to the place that has seen me at my worst and best. They’ve seen me grow up and have sparked the independent, spunky 15-year-old I am today. I could just tell an ordinary memory, but have decided to tell a story that falls deep in my heart. I was born with a whole in my heart and that summer, while ten years old, had to have open heart surgery. While I was leaving, I came to say good bye to the counselors of camp cloisters that became my dear friends, but they had a surprise in store for me. They had decorated a Sea Island bag and filled it with toys, coloring books and things that would help while I was in the hospital. Thinking about this story always brings me back to the good ‘ol days growing up at Sea Island.
Houston, TXEating/Charging at the beach club -the old beach club. And yes, Big George was there. I still remember our charge account number, 136##. We wrote our order with the short green pencils on the long charge cards. When we returned home to Mississippi after a month in Sea Island, my siblings and I waited with great anxiety for the “shoe box” of charge cards to arrive. Our father would separate them out by each family member to see who had the most charges. The older and smarter we got (so we thought) we figured we could sign another siblings name to make their stack bigger. I think our dad was on to us. I can still picture Big George in the Grill. And I now enjoy seeing him welcome everyone to the new Beach Club.
Chicago, ILIt started with Mom & Dad went on a trip in 1972 with friends one year. As our family grew we continued to share in the island life with our family each April. A long road trip from Olympia Fields, IL. to Sea Island, GA. but once we hit the Frederica River Bridge onto St. Simons Island we knew we were close. My favorite thing to keep repeating to my parents is "Are we there yet" even today we still laugh about my excitement. A month stay at Cottage #69 in April for Easter. Close to the beach/pool. Flying kits with my siblings to see who's would go up the highest. Going down the the pier to catch crabs for dinner- so fun!, Finding treasures on the beach in sea life. Bike rides up/down the path, looking at all the beauty of the island.
Washington, DCMy favorite memory is when we bought a house here because this place is so so special to me, friends, and my family.
Washington, DCOur family is very small, but our Sea Island Family is large. One year we decided to spend the days leading up to Christmas with Santa and all his elves, including Scott, Blair, Brendan, Jessica, Bill, Jackie, Tim, Ryan, David, and of course the friendliest elf, Mr. Bruce! The Alice in Wonderland characters, incredible gingerbread house and all of the fabulous decorations made us feel like we were part of something big (or tiny, if you peeked through the looking glass) and wonderful. It was one of the most special Christmases we've ever enjoyed. Thank you!
Atlanta, GAMy husband, Ed, and I grew up vacationing on Sea Island. Our love for Sea Island led us to The Cloister in 1978 for our honeymoon! This year we are celebrating our FORTIETH wedding anniversary and are returning to The Cloister to celebrate! We always love to look in the “honeymoon” albums in The Cloister for our picture! We brought are children to Sea Island to vacation. Now the children have their own children and we still return to Sea Island with multigenerations. Ed and I are blessed with wonderful memories of Sea Island as children, teenagers, young adults, parents and now grandchildren! Happy Birthday Sea Island!
Bodega Bay, CAI know every wedding at Sea Island is special. With Sea Island as the backdrop, how can they not be? My wedding day, though, was a miracle. Just 6 weeks before, I was diagnosed with cancer. This wedding saved my life. Our wedding on Sea Island, surrounded by our closest friends and family, sustained me and my new husband for months and years to come. From the first moment we arrived at The Lodge, the Sea Island staff (family) created the most special and unique environment. The memory of our day gave us a respite from the chaos and pain that was to come in our first year of marriage. A touch point that we could close our eyes and remember to escape to. There are not enough words to describe how beautiful that weekend was!
Tuscaloosa, ALSea Island is celebrating 90 years this year, we will be celebrating as well--this year marks our 40th wedding anniversary, and throughout this, Sea Island has played a significant part in this. It began with our honeymoon in 1978, and we returned 10 years later in 1988 to celebrate the anniversary, returning for the next two years following. We came back again to celebrate our 25th year in 2003. And our most recent visit was last year--and though it was cold and rainy, The Cloister has always been a special place for us. We've brought our son, who learned good manners and the pleasures of a great meal. We shared it with others, too. As we celebrate our milestone this year, Sea Island will be part of our thoughts.
Sullivans Island, SCMy parents- who’d vacationed many times at The Cloister- “finally” took along me and my many younger siblings in the mid-1990s, when I was a teenager. In those years, I often opted out of family travel, preferring to spend the weekends at home with my friends. However, The Cloister was the perfect place for a teenager! I fondly remember hanging out at the Beach Club: it was a place I could experience some independence on a big family trip. I have since vacationed at The Cloister with my husband, and we just brought along our two young children. We feel confident they will keep wanting to return with us- even when they are teenagers!
Vienna, VAMemories…so many so I guess I should start at the beginning. Elena and I went to a business meeting there in 1978 and have been returning there almost every year since, sometimes at least twice a year. Granted the physical appearance has dramatically changed but the same friendly, smiling faces still greet you wherever you are on the property. We returned the next year with our son and daughter and began a family tradition that is as strong today as it was 40 years ago. Our son’s 3 children started another link of going to the Cloister every summer (they still refer to it by the old name.) almost as soon as they were born. What memories do they have: getting dressed up for dinner every night, having our photos taken in the lobby and the dining experience. They learned the small bowl of warm water was for washing their fingers , the device that snared olives from the relish tray (we have one at home for special family dinners), and the desserts as much as they wanted. Sherry Taylor always offered M&Ms to close out the dinner. Ask them about Bingo and their eyes light up; they fully expected to win a pile of money but, alas they never won and in fact none of us has ever won any Bingo game! The old Beach Club was another family favorite especially for its ice cream station. Emma, our oldest granddaughter might have passed up lunch if allowed because the peppermint ice cream covered with chocolate and sprinkles definitely was more nutritious than anything on the menu. I also have special memories of Sea Island because I hosted a series of Business Conferences either in the Spring or Fall. I saw the same professionalism and attention to detail on those visits as I did when vacationing there in the summer. I recall with amusement at a Conference which David Brinkley was the guest speaker and asked the waiter for a cup of coffee, he was asked if preferred decaf or regular and Brinkley responded “drinking decaf is like drinking Scotch without alcohol” and the nonplussed waiter deadpanned ,”regular coffee coming up.” One more lasting memory did not occur at Sea Island but was inspired by it: dinner hosted by our three grandchildren and their parents, following our return home. Three performed as wait staff, complete with a napkin draped over their arm, taking orders from a hand written menu, serving us dinner and dessert. The table setting include the signature Cloister finger bowl (not “borrowed” from the dining room) but a local selection, relish tray, with the olive pincer, coffee and dessert. This was their way of saying thanks to Nonna and Pap for their summer vacation and one memory that we will never forget. To try and summarize 40 years of memories is obviously very difficult because there are so many but we tried this recent June to resurrect them and create new ones. We rented a cottage and our expanded family, minus our youngest granddaughter who is with the Peace Corps in Ghana, Africa. Our daughter flew in from Houston and joined her fiancé from Charlotte who visited the Island for the first time, our son and his lady friend (her first visit also), our granddaughter Emma (still likes Ice cream) newly married to Jon, and our grandson Joseph with his girl friend, Keleigh (another first timer) Special note: Emma and Jon who were married this past April because of work commitments couldn’t go away for a honeymoon so this week was, in effect, their honeymoon shared with 8 others. No problem. We celebrated 40 years of visiting Sea Island, and we celebrated my 80th birthday. How lucky can you be? We also started another tradition: our own Bingo night. Unfortunately, there was no Bingo that week. When I expressed my disappointment, Scott Steilin, true to Sea Island tradition sent a supply of Bingo cards, a machine for the numbers and a “cheat Sheet” of expressions use on Bingo night, such as “66..Clickity Click”, BEEEE..4” Some of the people who helped create these memories, in no particular order, are: Dulany Hall, Don Lewis, Houston Vissage Susan Ihde and her mother, Bernice Gault , Sherry Taylor, Big George and a host of others who never neglected to say, “Good morning Sir, Good evening Ma’am, Is there anything I could do for you.” Elena and I will return in August and, once more, enjoy Sea Island.
Anderson, SCIt started 1968 from Olympia Fields, Il. to Sea Island every April for a month long stay. Mom & Dad & 8 children in a van headed south 1,041 miles. Headed to our home away from home: good old cottage #69! Hop/skip away from the pool/beach. Cherry cokes; flying kites/find sand dollars on beach/bike rides. Easter Egg Hunt. Myself finding the golden egg!Horse back riding lessons, playing with the animals in the barn, bingo night at the cloister, nightly deer spotting trips down the island to see if we could spot wildlife. Upon our arriving was our Dear Ana, a long time resident of the island that would help out during our stay! Teaching how to boil crabs & sharing wonderful stories about the island life. Cherished memories of a lifetime.
Chicago, ILBeginning at the age of two, my family and I would spend at least a week at Sea Island in August each year. This was the week I looked forward to all year- not only because I was able to spend it with my family, including two cousins who I adored, but also because I got to go to my favorite place on earth. Sea Island, to me, is so much more than a resort. It’s a place where I experienced and learned so much and a place where I was able to enjoy time with my wonderful family. The majority of the memories from my childhood include Sea Island. From bingo to camp cloister to the jeep train to the old main dining room to ping pong and shuffleboard tournaments to the gazebo and the list goes on, Sea Island was (and still is) my happy place.
Los Angeles, CAI first came to Sea Island in the summer of 1991 when I was 5 weeks old. I've been lucky enough to come back at least once a year since then and reunite with friends who have become family. I don't love Sea Island because it's beautiful. I don't love Sea Island because of its sandy beaches. I don't love it because of the calm, warm ocean. I don't love it because of Billy Bingo, or the authentic Southern cuisine. I love Sea Island because it's where I met my best friends.
Dallas, TXI have been married to my favorite "Sea Island memory" for 42 years! I met my husband in Sea Island when he worked on the Junior Staff. We dated three years before marrying. The legacy continues as our eldest daughter met her husband in Sea Island as well. This special place is magical indeed. We have seven grandchildren and I feel certain that there will be some Sea Island romances sprinkled in their lives.....and some could repeat my "memory".
White Plains, GAIf only we could live every day as we live our days in Sea Island! When we’re here, we are present. *Really* present. Phone calls and demands don’t stop, but it’s much easier to feel, ‘it can wait’. What can’t wait? Watching our little ones eat sand and squeal at the waves crashing. Riding the water slide, as an adult, to relive your glory days (and realize how old you are ). Cruising on a golf cart down Sea Island Drive to be reminded slow pace is better for the heart. May we all live out our days as if they’re Sea Island days. We’ll be better for it. And live longer!
Anderson, SCMy parents began vacationing at Sea Island soon after they were married in 1986. Ever since then, my parents, brother, and I have vacationed every summer at Sea Island. My boyfriend tagged along last year for his first trip and immediately fell in love with this incredible place. It feels like home when we arrive! So many memories have been created here from Shirley Temple’s I would drink at dinner, the corn muffins and butter, finger bowls, and participating in the children’s talent show. We actually even remember the way the old building used to smell. Now we love relaxing at the beach club, fishing, going down the water slide, and visiting the ice cream shop every afternoon. Sea Island is the “True happiest place on earth.”
Columbus, OHI grew up with my grandparents telling adoring stories of trips to Sea Island. They were a golfing couple and loved playing down there. The family decided to surprise them with a trip and we celebrated my grandparents 55th wedding anniversary at our favorite golden isle. All the extended family, staying in a house together, bingo at The Cloister, cocktails on the beach, lots and lots of golf and boisterous group dinners. Planning my own wedding, we wanted to honor my grandparents by recreating their wedding. Same church and reception location and a honeymoon at their beloved Sea Island. My husband and I loved starting our marriage on the same fairways and beaches that brought them so much joy.
Mount Freedom, NJI married my husband at Broadfield! On a family trip one summer my Dad planned a trip to Sea Island. My boyfriend at the time now husband got to join us on that trip. We fished, went to the beach club, and I took a shooting lesson while my dad brother Inlaw and now husband shot which led to us going out to Broadfield and shooting. We fell in love with broadfield and almost 2 years later had a December wedding there! Now we are taking our almost 5 month old daughter to her first trip to Sea Island for the 4th of July! Sea Island is such a special place to us and we hope to continue the tradition of coming out here with our children.
Knoxville, TNSea Island holds such special family memories for us. The moments when we just take the time to relax and forget everything else going on in the world! We love everything from the water slide, to the Shooting School, bike rides and beach walking. Of course, there are the fabulous restaurants too! In this photo we see how much our kids have changed in 5 years! Thank you Sea Island!
Nashville, TNAs a kindergartener this year, my son wrote and illustrated a book about our trips to Sea Island. We have been to Sea Island several times as a family and we have such fond memories. I think my son Reid has certainly captured our fond memories through the eyes of a 6 year old. We are schedule to come back in October for fall break. Below is the text in case is hard to read and I have scanned pictures of the book as well: Title- When I went to the Beach, Author- Reid Dale Page 1- I was going to the beach to find seashells. Page 2- I got back to the reclining chairs. Paige 3- I was swimming at the pool. Page 4- I was at the game room. Page 5- I rode my bike home. Page 6- The next day I went down to the water slide. THE END:)
Jacksonville, FLOur family’s Sea Island story began back in 1953, when my newlywed grandparents travelled from New Jersey to The Cloister to enjoy their honeymoon. As they were walking into the lobby, they held the door open for another honeymoon couple who ended up checking in first. When my grandparents checked in, they became The Cloister’s 10,000th honeymoon couple and received a free stay. For their 50th wedding anniversary, our entire family -their 6 kids and 7 grandchildren, enjoyed a wonderful week back at SI. My husband and I visit regularly with our daughters. On our last visit an employee was able to locate the 1953 Honeymoon book, filled with the signatures of all couples that honeymooned in SI that year, including my grandparents’ signatures!
Atlanta, GAI remember gathering my nerves at the Beach Club before walking north on the beach with my girlfriend before asking her to marry me. We walked for what seemed like forever before I finally found it in me to drop to one knee. I was so nervous I forgot to present the ring to her! We were sitting there on the beach and after about 5 minutes I remembered the ring was in my pocket and told her "Oh yeah! Do you want to see your ring?!" We had our honeymoon at the Cloister and have returned to Sea Island every year since. It is our favorite place and we look forward to creating new memories there in the years to come.
Buffalo, NYOne year we rented a cottage on 26th and the drive with another family One day there was a knock on the door; one of the girls from the other family answered it to a surprised couple. This couple was friends with the owner of the cottage and wanted to stop by to say hi and see the house. My mom recognized the couple and invited them in and gave them a tour of the house. Afterwards, my mom and the other family's dad sat and chatted with the couple. The man asked Mr Prince about his line of work and then Mr Prince asked about his... to which the man replied "I'm the Governor of the state of Georgia"! Yes it was Jimmy Carter! The Carters then sent for Amy to come play with all the kids in the house!
St. Simons Island, GAIn the 1960’s, under the full American Plan, guests were assigned the same table and waitress/waiter for the duration of their stay. Our table was in the main dining room, and for several visits we were fortunate to have Carmen Cross as our server. Carmen’s Irish wit paired nicely with our Italian informality and sense of fun. One evening, while she was placing finger bowls before us, one of my teenage brothers, quite full of himself and feeling very “James Bondish” in his white dinner jacket, looked with disdain at the finger bowl in front of him and then at Carmen. “What, no rose petals?” Carmen just smiled and didn’t take the bait, but the following evening, and every evening thereafter, there were rose petals in his finger bowl!
Los Angeles, CAGrowing up in Buffalo, New York, every Easter vacation, my mom would pile us into the VW bus for the 2-day drive to Sea Island where my grandparents owned Cottage #39. To this day, I can still smell the air and feel the waves. Their house was very special because it had a ghost named Mr. Bacchus. He was friendly and would move through the house, opening doors and delighting me and my cousins, also gathered in Sea Island. My grandmother, Alyce, would sit quietly, not phased in the least, smoking her cigarette, long ash dangling, and say, "There he goes, Mr. Bacchus." There was no place in the world more magical than Sea Island to me and my three brothers.
New York, NYOur wedding at Sea Island was perfect, despite some weather-related surprises along the way! The afternoon of our wedding, torrential downpours came out of nowhere. Sea Island's wedding team scrambled to move everything inside, and even (very last minute) decorated the Spanish Lounge to make it look more like a "garden", which had been our original venue. While we were saying our vows (indoors), the sun broke through the clouds and the rest of the day went off without a hitch. At the end of the night, the wedding team surprised us with the most dramatic, incredible "sparklers" (that term doesn't do them justice!!) to see us off - we couldn't believe it as they shot up from the ground right as our golf cart cruised past. We were so excited!!
Knoxville, TNMy husband and I honeymooned to Sea Island in 2016. I remember people asking me why we didn’t want to go to an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean like a lot of newlyweds do. That was an easy answer for us- Sea Island is so much more! From the impeccable service as soon as you arrive, the nothing but friendly faces you see all over the resort, to the small details that the staff notices and pays such close attention to. On our last night there, we were surprised with a dessert that was so thoughtful, and we had no idea the restaurant staff even knew we were honeymooning. WHAT. A. PLACE. We hope our marriage can embody all that Sea Island does- so warm, welcoming to all, and true service to others. We hope to be back soon!
Frisco, TXTruly an amazing experience! We came to celebrate my birthday over my wife’s birthday weekend. This dinner made out trip! The level of attention, care, and food sets this place apart from the rest. This was the highlight of our trip and made it a commitment to come back every year at the same time. We can wait to experience this again!!!
Greenville, SCToo many fond memories of Sea Island for our family for the last 20+ years; but my FAVORITE was in July 2018 when we were there along with my brother's family to celebrate the NUMBER "5"! My nephew turned "5" and my husband turned "5-0" on our vacation! The Cloister, Lodge and Sea Island did NOT disappoint! The staff really went out of their way to help these fellas feel pretty special and they definitely made it a most memorable occasion! As a matter of fact, we are coming back this July to see if birthdays "6" and "51" for them can be equally fun! ;) With Sea Island we know it will always be PERFECT as we have celebrated many a milestone there! DREAMING of winning to help celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary this year! See ya'll soon!
St. Simons Island, GAMY MEMORIES STRETCH FAR AND WIDE! From the original Cloister to the process of waiting for the remodel to finish and then the old beach club to the new beach club. I will always remember both the old and new Cloister/beach club as fondly as a Rainbow Island sunset!! Every Christmas walking the halls of Christmas trees, the ginger bread houses, and the beautiful decorations inside and out!! I have now been married and gained a step child. Last year was the first year we spent Christmas at the Cloister where I got to show my new husband and daughter the beauty of Christmas on Sea Island! The 90 year anniversary ginger bread houses had my whole family drooling! It will now be a tradition every year to make our appearance in December!
Spartanburg, SCOne of the strongest memories I have at Sea Island was Bingo Night in one of the clubrooms. This was back in the day when Gentlemen wore tuxedos to club functions and their ladies were dressed to the nines in evening wear including cocktail dresses and best jewelry. Bingo night was always packed with families. It was pure Theater enjoyed by all. The last card played was full coverage and the winner received the largest cash award, approx $200. Keep in mind, time period was late 50s, early 60s. Card checker was a person named Calvin and he was always called to check cards for false Bingos. That night my father was not paying attention as he should have been. My mother was playing her card as well as my Dad's. My dad won, Bingo!
Atlanta, GAWe’ve spent the past four Memorial Day weekends at Sea Island because it brings us back to iconic Americana and magically makes time slow down. Our children, now ages four and seven, look forward to finding lizards and rabbits along the pathways, riding in the super fast golf carts, and the golden chocolate coins on their pillows at bedtime. My husband and I enjoy turning off our cellphones, endless rounds of bocce ball by the water, and slow roasting marshmallows while listening to the bagpipes at the Lodge. Remembering our past and looking for the best America has to offer, Sea Island hits every note.
Alpharetta, GAMy wife, Perrin, lost her father during Thanksgiving of 2014....it was not an easy loss for her and we decided to spend Christmas celebrating his life somewhere that was very special for both of us...we both agreed that one of our happiest memories was our honeymoon at Sea Island in 1978...that Christmas turned out to be one of our of our most memorable holidays and also our introduction to Room #15 at the Lodge, thanks to Relais & Chateau...Sea Island is very special to us and we feel very blessed to have such cherished memories ..we look forward and anticipate many more holidays with the folks at Sea Island..
Columbus, GAWe honeymooned at Sea Island May 1988 - exactly 30 years ago. We loved sitting at the old beach club with the floral umbrellas over the tables and the incredible beach club buffet. The historical toured bike rides we loved as well as bingo and especially meeting new married couples and looking through all the wedding albums over the years. We have come back several times over the years but are most fond of what started our love of Sea Island in 1988.
Boynton Beach, FLWe have visited Sea Island as a family twice. Both times were unbelievably relaxing. However, my favorite memory of Sea Island is very simple. It is a sweet moment between my husband and our daughter Caroline watching a river dolphin swim by as the sun was setting.
Bowling Green, KYGoing to see Billy Bingo with my dad!
Bowling Green, KYHorseback riding lessons every summer at the old Sea Island stables growing up!
Indianapolis, INOur family went to Sea Island every August growing up. I fished off the dock every day and we had fancy dinners every night. We loved getting dressed up! As we all grew up my sister spent her honeymoon at Sea Island and I brought my kids. When we found out our Mom had cancer we knew we needed to bring her to SI one last time. We spent her last Thanksgiving together at Sea Island and none of us will ever forget what a special time it was. Thank you for the memories!
Burlington, NCMy husband and I stayed in the River House for our honeymoon in Oct 1987! We came back for our 4th Anniversary and in 1993 my youngest daughter “Lucy “ celebrated her 1st bday! Last year was our 25 th Anniversary for our family . We will be there in August for year 26! Lucy Britt worked on Jr Staff during college! My in laws may be making their final trip this year- they are 89 and 90! Our family has cherished every year! We come from NC my daughters come from NYC and DC. Just booked their flights today! 32 years ago my husband made the best decision for us to celebrate our honeymoon at Sea Island!
Spring, TXMy husband and I honeymooned at The Cloister at Sea Island in 1989. It was the first place that called me “Mrs. Potlock”. I was thrilled! My favorite memory of that magical trip was walking along the beach, holding hands, and drinking champagne, after having an incredible dinner. The sun was beginning to set. It was that beautiful pink golden light. The beach was gorgeous. As we neared our room, my new husband had gotten The Cloister staff to write “I LOVE JAMIE” in the sand in giant letters! It was so simple and romantic, and perfect! I will never forget feeling so loved and special at that moment. It was like something out of a movie!
Concord, NCMore SI memories than I can list: Swimming lessons with Percy! @ 4; Returning from Bingo to see albino deer at the end of 9th St @ 5; Holding my first LIVE crab on the dock of our 21st St rental @6; My first riding lessons at the Stables with Mr. Long @7; Winning Bingo and giving my $200 to my dad to save for my first horse @9; riding THAT horse on the beach at SI @13; My first dances at the Beach Club! My first New Years Eve dance @13; The worst sunburn EVER when I was on Jr. Staff!; Hosting friends on THEIR honeymoon at the welcome reception when I was on Jr. staff; my own honeymoon at SI and shooting at the gun club; Introducing my own children to SI-my son on Jr Staff; alfresco dinners; Sunday buffet Dancing with Daddy in the clubroom.
Peachtree Corners, GAGrowing up coming to Sea Island every year with family has made it a very special place for us. This past year, we planned a trip to Sea Island to both remember my wonderful mother and her love of the bagpipers at the Lodge, the walks on the beach, and meals at the Cloister and coupled all of that with announcing to our family and close friends that we were expecting a little girl who was just born this April! We can’t wait to continue the Sea Island tradition with our daughter and hope to bring her the joy that we felt on our trips over the years.
Lake Forest, ILMy family has been blessed to be coming here for 30+ years. A yearly tradition. My memories from the old dining room, the three nine hole golf courses, the lunch and seafood buffet at the beach club, the bingo nights as a kid and the Cloister camps. The old plantation supper which is now Ocean Forest, the rooms on the beach that we used to call home every spring / summer which is now where the new pools have been built. the last 8 years my kids have been able to take part in this yearly tradition. The third generation of our family to be able to enjoy all the amazing things that Sea island offers. All of these memories that I clearly remember from when I was a little kid is what make it so special. Memories that my kids will now make.
Macon, GAMy husband and I just celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary this past weekend at The Cloister at Sea Island. We were just two broke college students when we wed in May of 2004. Now, many years, several moves, multiple Air Force deployments and three beautiful children later we marvel at the blessings we’ve been given. This is the second anniversary we’ve spent at Sea Island and after another lovely supper, we went outside to gaze at the stars and realize how truly blessed we’ve been. Hoping for many more years together and hopefully more sweet anniversary evenings at Sea Island.
Memphis, TNWe have countless Sea Island special memories over the last 15 years. One of our fondest memories definitely epitomizes what makes Sea Island so extraordinary-the service! After great family nights playing bingo, watching the bagpiper, and trips to the candy shop, we had a fun date night planned at the Georgian Room and the kids were excited to go to the kids night at the Beach Club. After a fabulous dinner the sommelier took us for a tour of the wine cellar-amazing. As we were ordering dessert we realized it was close to time for kids night pickup. Our amazing waiter had the Beach Club staff bring the kids to the Georgian Room. The Georgian Room staff gave them chef hats and aprons and had them bake cookies-fun and magical for all of us!

Atlanta, GAWe were married August 1973 and came to Sea Island for our honeymoon. On the 3rd night, we donned our recent rehearsal dinner best and went to the Beach Club for drinks on the patio before the Al Fresco dinner dance. After we were seated, a photographer came to our table and said "You are dressed perfectly for black and white photos. I'd like to buy you a drink and take your picture with that nice looking waitress.". We posed for45 minutes, pretending to sip long emptied cocktails. The photographer got our address and promised to send a copies of some of the pictures. Several weeks later we received glossies with a release to sign. A few months later, our picture appeared as the Sea Island ad and continued to be for the next 5+ years.
Columbus, INWatching my son make memories with his sons.
Saint Louis, MOI am 41, I have roughly 40 seasons of Sea Island Memories. Big George is the constant, always greeting us as children and now greeting my own children. Herman in the old snack bar calling out our cottage when lunch was ready. Children's afternoon dancing in the clubrooms. To the lunch announcements made over the old beach clubs loud speakers, "the buffet lunch will now be served." As times have changed and buildings have changed there has been one constant, the faces. Big George is that example. But on a side note the new Cloister smells the way the original Cloister smelled. The new Beach Club may be different, but if you look closely the old Beach Club is there... Sea Island has so many memories for my family, but its the people!!
Kenosha, WIThe 17 hour drive is so worth it! Sea Island is the gateway to serenity. Whether it’s a long day at the beach club, listening to live music while playing cards at the bar or a humid night full of O 66’s and Tommy Tucker tunes. I have never felt as happy and relaxed as I do in Sea Island, Georgia. My husband, six children, and I are always anxiously awaiting the next trip for some rest and relaxation. But, though we abide in Wisconsin, we are always on SEA island time.
New Orleans, LAI have spent every summer of my life in Sea Island and now get to share summers and holidays with my husband and little girl there too. I could definitely list 90 reasons but here are just a few. We love coffee in the morning and cookies in the afternoon, we love that holidays are still magical and over the top on the happy isle, we love early morning bike rides and late afternoon drinks on the lawn during the golden hour, we love that every day can be different and easy, most of all...we love that sense of peace we get the minute we drive through those beautiful gates and over the bridge. It’s the happiest place on earth and we love making new memories every visit.
Atlanta, GASea Island is such a special place to me. My whole family has loved it here for generations. It was my favorite place as a child, I married the love of my life here, and now bring my daughter to create new memories. One of my fondest memories was horseback riding. I remember the old stables when they were still off of Sea Island Drive. I'd love being at the stables going around to each horse to pet. One horse in particular I just adored. She was a young, very dark brown Arabian I was fortunate enough to ride. I remember galloping down the beach with my sister seeing dolphins pop up from the horses sound. It's something I'll never forget and hope to share with my daughter one day.
Montgomery, ALWe visited Sea Island each summer with our three sons. They loved golf, bisque, milk & cookies after Bingo, dressing for dinner, searching in the dark for sea turtle nests to hatch, breakfast buffet at the Beach Club, bike riding and so much more. Kitchen tours, quiet time in the library and solarium, shuffleboard, gold brick sundaes, pecan pie and those delicious macaroons after dinner. We’ve been blessed to return since our sons have married and now have Grandblessings to introduce to Sea Island life. It’s a magical place where a lifetime of good memories are made.
Winter Park, FLOur wedding weekend at Sea Island in 2010 was absolutely a dream come true. Every detail was attended to by the Sea Island wedding team and we will never forget the care and effort that everyone took to make it so special. Eight years and three kids later, we look forward to coming back soon for a family vacation!
Fair Haven, NJI grew up going to Sea Island every Easter Break with my family. So many of my greatest childhood memories are from Sea Island and it holds a very special place in my heart. Every year my older sisters and I would go on walks along the beach, take bike rides down Sea Island Drive, eat goldbrick sundaes, and kayak alongside the dolphins. My mom and I would build sandcastles, and my dad and I would play in the pool. I know I speak for my entire family when I say that we can't wait to get back here and relive some of these fond memories. Sea Island is a place for families, but its the perfect place for mine.
Holly & Jerry
Landrum, SCWhy do we love Sea Island? Sea Island is the ONLY place, we believe, where our story could have had its incredible ending. It dates back to July of 1984, seven months after we were married, when my diamond wedding ring was lost after being placed in the safe in River House #232. Despite our loss, we continued to return to Sea Island, our “special” place, and stay in the same room, “our” room, #232. Ten years later, in February 1994, Jerry received a phone call from Sea Island Lost and Found. My ring had been found! The engineer who found the ring took it to Lost and Found, where a manager, who could have easily given up, continued to search, until a member of the housekeeping staff remembered the ring loss, in #232, of 10 years ago.
Ellicott City, MDMy family has always enjoyed visiting Sea Island every summer, occasionally Thanksgiving, and once for Spring Break. It has always been my dad’s and my favorite place in the world. This photo is from last summer on our favorite swing. Right outside of the hotel and hung from a giant Oak Tree. Every morning my dad would wake up before my mom and siblings and say “I’ll meet you at the swing before breakfast.” My grandpa always had an admiration for swings and I think that where my dad and I got it from. This is my favorite swing and I make sure to visit it every day I’m at Sea Island, it reminds me how beautiful the world is.
Hilton Head, SCCelebrating my Precious Mother’s 85th Birthday with my Sweet Sister ( born on my mothers 40th Birthday and Happy 13 year old niece who had never been any where as Elegant! My Mother has just been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and thought her world had ended! Sea Island upgraded us to a Beautiful suite with Champagne and balloons!! We could never have afforded this luxurious celebration but because my mother was born on Leap Year we enjoyed the leap year package! Thanks for such a Special Stay for Such a Special Lady!! We Love Sea Island and Wonderful Staff! Sea Island lives in our Family’s Heart forever!!
Oklahoma City, OKGosh, so so many wonderful memories! This is one pic of going to see if the sea turtles are hatching at night. From riding bikes, swimming, fishing, working out, kids club, dining, bingo, golfing, canoeing, sand dollar hunting, horseback riding, golf cart riding, the list goes on and on and on. I can’t describe the incredible people who work at Sea Island. EVERYONE makes you feel like family and home.
Chicago, ILComing to Sea Island every summer, with my husband and children is my most precious time of the year. Surrounded by my family brings me so much joy and happiness. Sea Island feels like home. Seeing Bruce smile makes me smile. One Year we saw sea turtles hatch and make their way to the ocean during the day which was amazing to witness. Last year we celebrated our daughter Jordan’s 18th birthday with a scavenger hunt spread out all over the property. No fun was spared, golf cart to drive us around from clue to clue, balloons, birthday banner and an out of control amazing dinner made by chef Robert. A huge chocolate chip skillet cookie, b-day cake and beautifully decorated turquoise cake stand to present Jordan with her b-day gift..magic!
VAWe brought our 12 year old granddaughter to celebrate her birthday at our favorite resort for her first time spent at a luxury resort. Everyone at The Cloister made her feel so special and all grown up - especially the staff of the Georgian Room. Thank you for making her birthday with us a lifetime best memory!
Tampa, FLEaster weekend 2013 was unusually chilly and wet. My family was not going to let the weather hamper their good times on the beach for our annual seine netting party. My brother, Paul, always ready for a good adventure refused to let the weather shake his optimism that he would find a few daring, seine fishing souls to bear the cold water. Without consideration, he rented 20 wetsuits from the dive shop and bribed a few good sports to walk the 100 yds into the ocean and pull in the seine net for what was sure to be the best catch ever. It Was! The kids went nuts over the tremendous heap of sealife treasure. The cold weather only aided the camaraderie of another great shared experience at Sea Island.
Atlanta, GASpent a week in The St Simons suite on the river. We return for our annual anniversary week in November 2018. I can smell the oak wood now! Love Sea Island.
Medina, OHBecause we were not going to be with any children or grandchildren this past Christmas, we decided to spend a few days at The Cloister. My mood had been blue, but once we saw the beautiful decorations, relaxed in our beautiful room, and experienced the exquisite food, it truly became a merry Christmas.
Dallas, TXOver 30 years ago, I met some of my very best friends because they were willing to help me with my 1 year old triplets, 3 year old and 4 year old. They are from Virginia, Tennessee, New York, and Marthand. We have now met every summer since & our children have been in each other’s weddings, etc.. we still meet every August now that we are grandmothers.
West Hampton Beach, NYWe had the most magical family vacation at Sea Island. Each child had a different favorite spot from the beach club, to the pool, to the game room. My favorite was all the little flowered trails to giant chess games, bocce ball courts, coy ponds or scenic overlooks with welcoming chairs. We took in the sights and let our hair down. Drank in all of the southern charm and reconnected as a family. What I wouldn't give for a tea and cookie with them in the atrium right now. A deck of cards, birds chirping and the excited retellings of the mornings adventures.
Tallahassee, FLWe recently celebrated our tenth anniversary at The Cloister at Sea Island, and it was what vacation dreams are made of. As a native of the South you spend your life telling others on your travels, moves, run ins that you can’t duplicate the unique feeling that this area of the world leaves you with. One of rich food, soft breezes, bike rides, picturesque homes, comfort, sunsets, blooming jasmine, and most of all hospitality. That is how Sea Island feels. Like the best that the South has to offer, all in one sleepy island off the Georgia coast. Our memories here are incomparable. I have to imagine that for 90 years guests have felt just as special as we did during our stay. Left with memories that will keep me smiling for decades.
Vincennes, INREMEMBER THE RIVER HOUSE! We spent our August 1972 Honeymoon (we were honeymooners # 20,714 according to our welcome card from Irv Harned) at the River House (Room #228), and chose it for the next several visits, when we finally decided we could afford to stay at Retreat and Hamilton Houses, on the ocean. Now, when we sit at Tavola or on the Black Banks Terrace, we realize we are sitting where the River House was! We love the new Cloister, but how we wish we had a time machine to experience the River House again! And there are so many other memories at The Cloister since then.
Appleton, WIEscape to Italy with Tavola at the Cloister. Besides the amazing atmosphere, the beautiful resort and beach, and all the people and great service, the other reason why we keep coming beach is because of the food, especially at one of our favorite restaurants Tavola. Every time we eat there, more and more memories are made, not just of our vacation to Sea Island, but also memories made with our family. Make sure to ask for Ben at Tavola! Ciao, belli.
St. Simons Island, GAWe vacationed at my in-law’s 23rd St home each summer. Our girls rode ponies at the old stables as soon as they were able to sit in a saddle. As they grew up they spent time with Amy and the horses and we enjoyed beach rides. When my oldest daughter was 10, she was able ride bareback so we started to go on swim rides. We rode the horses out into the surf so they were swimming. On one ride we were fairly far from shore and we began to see fins. A school of dolphins joined us and were swimming around and between the horses. We actually felt the dolphin rub against our legs and the horses were unafraid. It was magical and peaceful to be so close with nature. My daughter and I cherish this amazing experience we shared at SI.
Gainesville, GAWhere to begin? We have so many wonderful memories of our summer visits to the Cloister! The beach club, bike rides on Sea Island Drive, the Jeep train, looking for sand dollars, putt putt tournaments, Bingo, dancing with our parents in the club rooms, milk and cookies, doing puzzles in the Colonial room, Sunday night buffets, 4th of July fun, Teen Dances...the list goes on. It was truly idyllic and I was very fortunate to share with my children when they were little. They will always be some of our favorite family memories!
Atlanta, GAI really can’t remember a time when Sea Island wasn’t my favorite part of the year. We would pack up our station wagon, and all 5 people in my family would stay in one room in the Harrington House. That has since evolved to 21 family members (14 grandchildren!). We can’t all fit in one room of course- but we all come for one week every summer still! It’s everyones favorite week- biking, swimming, bingo, bunny spying, beach walks, goldbrick Sundays, crabbing, rainbow island, laughing and playing and just being together. I have endless Sea Island memories, but my favorite is marrying the love of my life in the Cloister Chapel. That chapel is sacred and gorgeous, and I love that I can now take my 4 young children back to where it all began.
Wilton, CTWe just returned from a weather-challeneged Spring Break at The Lodge. It was our first trip to Sea Island and we just couldn’t get over the incredible service at every turn. From Jim to Walt, to Buddy to Ike, they all went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was perfect. But more importantly, the service was so caring, personable and all-around lovely that we can’t wait to return. During a break in the unfortunate weather, we managed to sneak our young boys out onto the driving range. Watching the little loves of my life driving balls with their father against the backdrop of Sea Island will be etched in this mother’s mind for a very long time. A magical place for beautiful memories.
Athens, GASea Island has been a special place for my entire family since childhood, so naturally when I met my husband-to-be, we began to visit so I could share my “happy place” with him. We decided to get married at the old Cloister, and in 2000 we danced the night away with friends and family in the old beach club. Friends still tell me ours was the best wedding, with a 12-piece band and “crab cakes and shrimp as far as the eye could see!” When our son was born, we began a new generation of traditions, photographing him in the swing among the historic trees where we were married. Luke has grown up riding his bike in the 4th of July parade, hunting Easter eggs, yelling “Clickety Click Sixty-six!” with Billy Bingo. Sea Island is our family treasure.
Watertown, CT65 years ago my parents Honeymooned at Sea Island. In 2 weeks my Husband and I will be vacationing at Sea Island, staying in the Cloister just like my Mom and Dad. So excited! Will have to take videos and compare it to my parents Honeymoon films!!
Roslyn, NYOur Happy Place: Sea Island is our Happy Place. Every year my family looks forward to that one magical week where there is only one thing to do and that’s have fun! I love how a quick walk leads you to pools, the ocean, a water slide, an arcade and the ice cream parlor! At night we love roasting s’mores over a fire and hearing the bagpipes blow or dressing up for Bingo where we laugh at bongos and cheer for bingos ... it’s more than Bingo! My favorite memory is when my son and I spent 3 hours in the ocean letting the waves knock us over. We were laughing so hard and just couldn’t stop our pretend fight against the waves. He was 6 then and he’s 9 now but every time the plane lands, the first thing he asks is when are we going to the Ocean?!
Simi Valley, SCIt was our first visit to Sea Island. It was warm spring afternoon and a wedding had just occurred on site. All the guests had left and our 2 year old daughter was frolicking in the rose pedals left on the cool grass left by the bride walking down the aisle. We saw your charming swing bench and decided to get a few shots of our daughter in pure joy as we let the rose pedals fall upon her. This is still one of our all-time favorite pictures, and it happened at Sea Island!
Arlington, TXWhen I stayed at Sea Island, something in my heart changed. I was serving as a nanny on this trip so I had little time to truly experience all the glory that Sea Island embodies. Each glimpse I got while leaving my hotel room made me feel whole. From the long hallway full of lush beauty, the sweet wedding in the courtyard, the chapel, and the constant smiling faces, I was hooked. I began to think up ways to stay out late and wake early just to soak in every moment I could. I took more pictures than I can truly explain just so I could reminisce for the next several years until I can return. I catch myself looking at those photos more than any others on my camera role. I cherish the time I had on the beautiful resort and dream of a return.
Marietta, GAWe have so many amazing memories visiting Sea Island! Some of our favorite memories are spending holidays at Sea Island. We love 4th of July when our family gathers to celebrate - great grandparents all the way down to the little ones. The parade is a must-do for our girls, pictured here in 2016 at 3 1/2 and 1 1/2. We look forward to it every year!
Pine Brook, NJMy family has been visiting Sea Island annually since 1983. My grandfather started the tradition, a retreat for our entire family including my great grandmother at the time, and we’ve been here every year since - and now I bring my own kids, four generations beyond the eldest from our original group. It is a Do Not Miss family week, with countless memories that live - Jeep train rides, BINGO wins, the swing, fishing contests, boat rides, sunsets, days spent at camp, nights spent in the formal Dining Room with five-course-meals every night, more buffets than I can count, afternoons spent gathered - every generation - in the pool, and so many more. Thank you Sea Island for bringing our family so much joy and laughter!
Naperville, ILOur family has vacationed in Sea Island several times in the past years. While we love always experiencing something new on each visit, we also enjoy our traditions that we can’t miss out on each time we return. The biggest tradition for us is bingo. One year, our son, William, won the big jackpot! The moment Billy Bingo announced that Will was the big winner is a moment our son will never forget. In his own words, “It was the greatest moment of my life.” Bingo is an activity our entire family looks forward to every year. From “B-4.... and after”to Nilla Waifers and the electric slide, these traditions will never be forgotten and we cannot wait to experience them on our next visit. There truly is no place else in the world like Sea Island.
Ft. Lauderdale, FLThis snapshot of our two boys makes me so happy. They are carefree and unplugged- two states that we always seek to find and treasure in our time at Sea Island. And the reason we keep coming back and back and back!!!
Ft. Lauderdale, FLMy memories of Sea Island are unique because I have sadly never been there yet. Ironically, I find your website my "happy place" and I find serenity in planning a world class vacation for my family on weekends when I think, alast, this time we will actually make it there. For various reasons we have had to cancel over the years and once again the falconry and turtle walks have to be put on hold. Seeing my kids go crabbing or our family of four renting a golf cart slips thru as busy life and formalities of family obligations take precedence. For now, my favorite memories will be admiring your impressive website and I can continue to dream.
Williamsburg, VATo calm myself I close my eyes and let my mind go back to 50 years of Sea Island memories. I was always aboard the jeep ride rides to the end of the island for shelling and of course Bingo was a highlight. The cinnamon cookies and milk always took the sting out of not winning. Standing on top of my Dad's feet, we would dance in the clubrooms after Bingo. I felt so grown-up! The Alfresco Dinner Dances around the pools at the Beach Club rank high in my memory bank as well. As an adult, I was lucky enough to introduce my children to all the wonders of Sea Island, but walking on the beach solving all the world's problems with my grandparents and parents will forever be my most cherished memory of Sea Island. I felt loved and safe.
Cream Ridge, NJIn April 2016 my husband James and I stayed at Sea island on our Georgia adventure. We visited Savannah (and named our daughter after the beautiful town there). The highlight was Sea Island. James surprised me with a horse ride on the beach. My horse, Woody, enjoyed the all you can eat buffet of the woods as we made our way with the group to get to the beach. It took the instructor and James on their horses to try and pull me out with Woody as he backed me into a bush! Walking on the beach with the soft sound of padded hoof prints pressing into the sand is something I will never forget. I had a stressful job and worries and being on that beach had everything melt away. I also felt like a princess eating in the Georgian room.
Sarasota, FLI had the pleasure of visiting Sea Island for Christmas 2016! It was a magical escape from reality and. The staff was amazing from start to finish. The food was like no other and the room was tucked away in the garden area giving us the privacy we needed. I hope to come back soon! And would love to enjoy this southern slice of heaven.
Sarasota, FLSo many wonderful memories and Christmas’s at the old and new Sea Island with my family. This one was a beautiful memory as I was about 15 in my long black dress feeling like a princess on Christmas with the whole family. Almost every year before dinner we would find a photographer and they would always place us in that same spot by the fireplace. I have so many photos from that same spot from various years, but this one is my favorite. Now sadly, my grandparents have passed on so these photos mean even more to my family. Thank you for supplying my family and myself with so many cherished memories.
Alpharetta, GAMy husband introduced me to Sea Island in my early 40’s.. growing up in NH all my life I’ve never experienced the magic I felt my first time on the island ... years later the island keeps us coming back annually... introducing our 3 children to Sea Island soon after our son was born that’s when the magic truly filled my heart. From the early mornings across the street from coffee at the Cloister to our little guy pushing his big yellow dump truck to the sandy beaches at the beach club.. to the afternoons filed with walks while he napped on daddy’s shoulder wrapped in bamboo blankets with the warm breeze blowing ... our older children biking all over! We will celebrate his 50th at the island, his choice over anyplace he wants to go. MAGIC
Olathe, KSGrowing up we visited Sea Island a number of times. My parents honeymooned there and they felt is was a great location to bring children due to the beauty but that it exposed us to formal dining and how to act as proper young ladies and gentlemen. When it was time for my brother, sister and I to be married, Sea Island was the logical choice for our Honeymoons as well. Although times and society have changed, the beauty and traditions of Sea Island continues. In he coming years there may well be a third generation of my family visiting for their honeymoon as well.
Charlotte, NCIn May 2017 we celebrated a huge milestone in our family and spent the week celebrating my in laws 50 wedding anniversary. We were thrilled that our 2 year old son was there as well to celebrate such a milestone with his grandparents. While the week itself was full of so many memories that we will never forget our favorite memory watching our son know exactly how to get to the courtyard to find Scout, the owl each AM! What a once in a lifetime memory to be able to greet and get so close to Scout when he was just a few weeks old. As you can tell by the excitement on his face even at two years old he nor the rest of the family will forget an experience like that week gave us! There is nothing better than making memories as a family at SI.
Simpsonville, SCSummer vacations as a child: days started at the beach club for breakfast with our favorite waitress Att—I remember the grape juice and fresh fruit for some reason. We would spend all day at the beach and pool only to be separated by a bicycle rental and and a ride all over the island. Lunch was always poolside after a game of ping pong in the gazebo with other kids. I remember at the time there were three diving boards we loved to jump from, one was a 3 meter that was always a thrill when I could muster the courage. Our days outside ended in order to get ready for dinner in the Georgian room and an evening of bingo with the family. We all loved the announcer who would say things like, “ O-clickety click, sixty-six!” and I-22 skadoooooo.”
Washington, DCI grew up with hundreds of incredible childhood memories from Sea Island including the Easter egg hunter, Fourth of July celebrations and learning to play golf. My parents had their honeymoon there and now my husband I celebrate our anniversaries there as well. Perhaps one of the most special is being able to go back year after year with my father and still enjoy playing golf together as much as we did on Day 1! I still cannot beat him, but it is much closer these days!
Farmington, MILast year I treated my niece to a surprise vacation to Sea Island. She thought it was a last minute endeavor but much to her surprise during our first dinner there she was greeted by the staff with congratulations. You see, she left home at the age of 17 determined to make a life for herself. She graduated from college last year with a degree in Computer Bioinformatics and is now pursuing her Masters Degree. She did not think it was a big deal but I had to impress upon her the exact opposite. She navigated many challenges and came out on the positive side of her journey. And the amazing thing the journey still continues. I wanted her to know she has to celebrate herself no matter how small or big the accomplishment. Plus we love her.
Macon, GAWe have started coming to Sea Island with our family each Labor Day for 2 years now and our 3rd Labor Day trip is already scheduled. My kids love riding in the golf cart over to the beach club and us adults love relaxing on the balcony at night with wine after we have put everyone to bed, we reminisce about the fun filled day at the pool and beach. It’s my favorite trip of the summer!!
Flowery Branch, GAMy husband and I have been making memories at Sea Island for years! This past Easter has become one of our most cherished memories as we took in all Sea Island had to offer surrounded by majestic oaks, sparkling water and our daughter, it was heaven on earth!
Savannah, GAMy first memory of The Cloister a boy in the late 40's, my mother, father, and older sister took a trip (from our residence in suburban Philadelphia) to Sea Island to spend some days at The Cloister. My father, a lawyer in Montgomery County, was involved in his hobby as a photographer. As a result, I have in possession his home movies he took in the 1930's and 1940's. In one movie it shows my sister walking in the courtyard garden of The Cloister. My father may have known Howard Coffin as my family is related to the Coffin family and both Howard Coffin and my father were Quakers. My father often would stay at establishments having Quaker ownership or Quaker influence. My wife, dog Smedley, and I always enjoy our visits to The Cloister!
Peachtree Corners, GASea Island was our annual vacation growing up, so it has always held a special place in my heart. Our trips later evolved to not only a spot for an amazing vacation and a place we could relax, but to where we would go to celebrate life's greatest moments. I am currently expecting our first child, a little girl to be born April 23rd, and Sea Island is where we announced to my dad that his only daughter would be giving him a grandchild! My mom passed away from breast cancer when I was 24 and Sea Island was the last trip she and I were able to go on together. We always stayed in the same room in the Cloister overlooking the Black Banks River and every time I come I try to get that room, as it holds some of my most cherished memories with her.
Coraopolis, PASea Island has been such a special place in our lives. With so many memorable visits over the past 30 years. My children both still feel like they are going to Disney when we say we are headed there for a little break. Our fondest memory is easy. In 1995 we were there for a summer week. It was the first time our oldest made the trip with us. She was 3 at the time. It was still the Sunday buffet in the old cloister ballroom and dinner every night in tie and jacket. It was special. Alexis attracted so many friends that week from the staff. "Marvin" would take Alexis EVERY night into the kitchen to see what they were cooking and our server Laura (georgian room now) still talks about that week. We love her dearly.
New Orleans, LAWe arrived at the Cloister on Sea Island just as an enormous storm was making its way through Florida and threatening the Atlantic Coast. We experienced a true “calm before the storm” as the Cloister continued to provide the grandest service and attention to every detail. The weather was gorgeous and the peacefulness we enjoyed was unprecedented by anything we had experienced before. We took the opportunity to photograph all the loveliness of the hotel and expansive grounds, swimming pools and beaches. We have never enjoyed a resort as much as we enjoyed the Cloister at Sea Island. We can’t wait to return.
Windermere, FLThere are so many. My honeymoon at the old Riverhouse. Multiple anniversaries both before and after the renovations. Sea Island has been our happy place since 1997 and was a favorite respite for me since the late 1970s when I was first exposed to the island by a friend whose family owned a home there.
Mount Prospect, ILIt was August 2010. On a perfect Georgia night, Tabitha and I took a walk along the Sea Island beach and I proposed to her. Sea Island is a magical place that will always be so very special to us and our family.
Atlanta, GAAfter two years of courting me down in Sea island, my husband, Brand, proposed at the "old" Beach Club there in July of 2005! He grew up going to Sea Island since the late 70's and it's such a special place to he and his family. While dating, we spent many incredible times there. He proposed with a painting by friend and Atlanta artist Steve Penley - it was a painting of a fish I caught with an engagement ring on my finger. We celebrated that night and the beautiful Colt & Allison's restaurant at The Lodge, and have spent nearly every anniversary there over the last dozen years.
Chicago, ILSome little girls dream of their wedding. For me, it was the honeymoon. It would be in Sea Island, cherished by my Chicago family as the prettiest spot on earth. Right after our 1978 wedding, Ed and I arrived, and he fell in love with Sea Island, too. We brought our boys, Mike and Jim, many summers, continuing the tradition. Little did we know, though, that one of the girls splashing in the pool could have been Lissy, who would later meet and marry Mike in Washington D.C. Now, Lissy and Mike, and their four kids, along with Uncle Jimmy and Nana and Pop all visit every summer. Often, members of our new Atlanta clan join us for a few days. Not just the prettiest spot, Sea Island is a knot magically tying our expanded family.
Charlotte, NCOne July my family decided to book a photographer and get some family photos on the beach. As my sister's family took their family shots, my family waited in the wings for our turn. My two daughters played in the sand, and I prayed they stayed presentable in their matching dresses and bows. I knew they were getting tired of waiting, and so when they asked if they could stick their toes in the ocean, I let them. The draw of the Sea Island water was too great, and they ended up fully soaked, playing in the waves and swimming...fancy dresses and all! The photographer started taking photos of my two frolicking daughters, and we have the best photos of the girls from that day- laughing and playing and being the authentic kids they are.
Sea Cliff, NYSea Island created a wonderful memory for my sister and I, as well as our 3 girls ages 16, 13, and 5. We celebrated my niece turning 13 in the middle of December and couldn't have had a nicer stay at Sea Island over the holidays. We marveled at the Gingerbread Homes and the gorgeous Christmas trees. The best part was meeting Santa up close and personal. And what a nice Santa he was! During the day we bonded while searching for shells and sand dollars walking along the picture perfect beach. We visited the Lodge as well to see more Christmas finery and collectively all wanted to move to Sea Island immediately. The whole trip felt magical and was a great girls getaway. Thank you Sea Island for the very happy memories.
Birmingham, ALWe celebrated our daughter's 8th birthday at Sea Island last year. We started the morning of her actual birthday with the Sea Turtle Dawn Patrol where she got to "rescue" a baby sea turtle that did not make it out of the nest and help it to the ocean. She was so excited! We can't wait to return!
Columbia, SCMy wife and I celebrated our honeymoon at Sea Island nearly four years ago. It was such a magical experience and we could not have imagined a better destination for our first week as a married couple. The staff did everything to make our time special and catered to our every need. We thoroughly enjoyed trying the restaurants, relaxing by the pool, going on a bike tour and just lounging in the luxurious room. We still talk about how the Georgian Room is the most elegant dining experience either of us have ever had! We fully intend to spend our fifth anniversary at Sea Island and every major anniversary from here on out. The attached photo was taken in the courtyard.
Nashville, TNI was about 10 at the time, so it was probably around 1966. I went out on a Beach Trail Ride - riding a Pinto named "Peanut"", and the ride was caught in a torrential thunderstorm after we had left the beach and were riding along the sand beside the road heading back to the (original) barn at the corner of Frederica and the Causeway. We all bolted for the barn, but there was a little girl about 6 or so on the ride with us. Her horse ran away with her, and one of the trail leaders and myself grabbed the reins of her horse to get it under control. Returned to the cottage (we rented Cottage #191, then) thoroughly wet and bursting with my story!
Nashville, TNAt some point back in the 40's - during the war years, my mother, Bobbie, would pack up her 2 daughters, and with her good friend Ann, and her children, would decamp to Sea Island in her Chrysler Desoto. Mother spoke fondly and sadly of 2 memories. One memory involved her education as a "bomber spotter" while at Sea Island. The other memory was how she and her friend Ann while walking the beach would occasionally run in to young men enjoying a brief respite from training at St. Mary's before going off to war. They would always offer to fix dinner for them, and it always saddened them to say goodbye afterwards - knowing these brave young men were about to leave, and possibly not return.
Lakeland, FLFor our honeymoon, we had to stay close by to our St. Augustine Beach wedding since my husband was in the middle of planning the inaugural football season at the college where he is athletic director. Three days was the most we could be away, so we chose the Cloister for its proximity. What we didn't know is that the people and the beauty would keep us coming back at least once a year since our honeymoon. And we squeezed in an extra night during our honeymoon because we could not bear to leave! The thoughtfulness and sincerity of the staff at the Cloister continues to amaze us. It is the gold standard wherever we travel. Below is a picture of us at Southern Tide where we enjoyed the seafood buffet on our "extra" night.
Columbus, GAI began coming to Sea Island in 1992. I was in 2nd grade. My favorite memory was swimming in the gigantic pool, and unlimited desserts at Sunday dinner in the main dining room. Fast forward to summer 2003 when I got to bring my boyfriend to Sea Island for the first time. My family rented a cottage, because we had outgrown a hotel room. I couldn't wait to rush him into the main hotel lobby to smell the amazing smell of The Cloister! Fast forward to 2008, when that boyfriend and I came to Sea Island on our honeymoon. Press the fast forward button to 2016 when we got to bring our 6 month old to the beach for the first time. We had a great time with our 18 month old last summer. We can't wait to come back this summer, too.
Greensboro, NCMy parents, Martin & Mary Rowell, who are both deceased, had their honeymoon at Sea Island in October of 1958. I had always dreamed of visiting Sea Island, and experiencing the world-renowned resort enjoyed by my parents on their big day. A few years ago, I treated my family to a very memorable vacation at Sea Island (Bingo!). While in the Hotel Lobby, I took a chance and asked the front desk if they kept Guest Registers from "way back when." A most helpful ambassador of the Hotel walked me across the lobby and found the 1958 Guest Register! Seeing my parent's actual signatures in the Guest Book, from 1958, was an awesome and emotional moment for me. Thank you for that incredible memory!!
Wesley Chapel, FLPlaying the "Amazing Race" with my entire family! It was truly an unforgettable experience and I can't stay enough about the staff that participated, organized and cheered us all on!
IrelandOn your Emerald anniversary, and all the way from the Emerald Isle (Wicklow in Ireland), we remember our wedding in the Cloister and the Sea Island 5K on our fourth anniversary. While we are Irish, Sea Island in GA holds a very special place in our hearts, so much so that we have named our home Sea Island.
Chestnut Hill, MAWhen my daughter was little she use to wake up at the crack of dawn. I would take he down to the beach to watch the sunrise so we wouldn't wake up the rest of the house. We have seen many a gorgeous sunrise but this one August morning in particular was just spectacular. The clouds were reflecting perfectly in the tidal pools as she splashed around. I remember thinking what special moment it was and how many memories she was going to make right there on that beach. Luckily I had may camera with me to photograph the moment. It remains one of my favorite memories of Sea Island and quite frankly one of my favorite memories in general.
Mount Pleasant, SCNothing like a girls weekend for 40 somethings and trying to act like a kid again. Such a great place to unwind and have fun and relax!
Saint Louis, MOAs a child my family and I visited Sea Island every summer. Everything about it was amazing. I loved the food, the beach, the pools, the activities and the people. I enjoyed spending my days bouncing from the pool, to the beach, to lunch, to the tennis courts. I especially loved tie dye on the beach. It was such a fun activity and it was fun to wear my shirt back home until the next summer when I would make a new one.
Mulberry, FLMy favorite memories of Sea Island are riding on the beach with the horses with Horace as our guide. We have been coming every year for a few years now and make sure that we always book the beach ride. The beautiful beaches sell themselves. We never forget to bring our mini schnauzer, Jack. He loves the beaches too!
Bryn Mawr, PAWe celebrated our tenth anniversary at Sea Island in 1977 and returned 13 more times to homes, hotel and the Lodge. It has remained a favorite vacation place. And we are now married 50 years so we hope to visit again next year.
Smyrna, GAStarted coming to Sea Island when our children were 3 and 6 and now they are 16 and 13. The most fantastic place on earth! True paradise and I traveled all over the world and stayed at many beautiful places. We will never forget our sea turtle hatching night walks or bingo nights full of fun and humor, or our dance lessons with incredible English dance instructor or school of manners for kids. What can be better than their thanksgiving dinners ? - nothing ! Everything there is done with class and tase. Bravo Sea Island - the little paradise on planet Earth!!
Auburn, ALSea Island is my favorite place, so it is hard to pick a favorite. As much as I love the food and the facilities, my fondest memories there have to be the walks on the beach that I take with my dad. We have had talks about friends, football, colleges, and of course the beautiful houses that line beach. I am so thankful that he brings my family back every year, and for the all the fond memories, even the simple ones, that Sea Island has provided to me and my family over the years.
