This large, rambling, older home is marsh-side amidst palms and live oaks. With eight bedrooms and eight baths and countless gathering spaces, Cottage 188 is perfect for a casual family gathering. In the main house, the downstairs open floor plan features a casual den with family-friendly furnishings, a game table, and a baby grand piano. A more formal living room adjoins the den, delineated by a beautiful patterned carpet coordinating with the pale green easy chairs and throw pillow accents. A decorative fireplace accents the room, and blonde wood floors unite the areas, made bright and airy by walls of windows looking out to the pool and backyard. Pool may be heated with advance request prior to arrival and an additional fee.

A small but serviceable eat-in kitchen is adjacent to a breakfast room with rattan furniture and a small desk. The formal dining room adjoins the kitchen and features crisp white furnishings that include a massive dining table with seating for ten beneath a glowing capiz shell chandelier, an unusual white grandmother clock, and a skylight and French doors that filter in plenty of light. A nearby casual den with a wet bar is perfect for watching television or playing board games. A small maid-style bedroom adjoins the den.

For quiet reading, a paneled library completes the downstairs. Beneath a beamed ceiling, a fireplace of old brick is the focal point of the room, and a plush couch and leather club chair provides a cozy sanctuary. The downstairs master bedroom features a king bed and a sunlit alcove holding a dressing table. Three bedrooms are upstairs, each with a bath, and individually decorated with unique character.

Almost like a second house, the backyard wing of Cottage 188 overlooks the pool terrace and lawn. The ground floor provides a shaded area to relax in, while the upstairs has three bedrooms. Children will love the secret hideaway that is reached by a ladder to the tiny third floor. Even adults will want to check out the original artwork adorning the walls.

With plenty of space for the group to gather as well as private spaces, Cottage 188 is a great choice for a large family or extended group of family and friends.
