John & Ashton

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
My favorite memory from our Sea Island wedding was walking into the reception for the first time. The ballroom was decorated so beautifully and every detail we asked for was taken care of. From the wedding timeline to the decorations to the amazing food, it was perfect! We never worried about one detail of the reception because we knew the Sea Island Wedding team had it under control.

How did you hear about Sea Island?
I heard about Sea Island from my parents! They moved to the area for retirement and our family joined the Sea Island Club. We spend all holidays at Sea Island and are always there celebrating life’s big and small moments. I also worked for Sea Island for almost 4 years! I started off as a member of the wedding team as an event designer and then transferred into the Human Resources department. Sea Island truly is my favorite place. It holds so many family memories and special moments in my career so when it came to picking out our wedding venue there was no where else I wanted to celebrate!

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
My inspiration for our wedding décor was winter. I had always dreamed of having a winter wedding at Christmas time and wanted all details to be in the deep wine / deep green / light pink / ivory color palette. My husband is very into hunting and the outdoors, so we were able to tie in wood and outside elements throughout the centerpieces, trees, and chandelier in the room. The Event Design Team brought our whimsical / winter / woodsy vision to life!

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
We were beyond pleased at the end with how the Wedding and Event Design Team took care of every detail of our big day. Everything we discussed during planning was executed so beautifully and our guests still talk with us about how we had the “Wedding of the Year.” It was everything we asked for and so much more!

The flowers were exquisitely unusual with soft hues of pale peach and blush, greens, and blues, the tables varied in linens, chargers, and décor as to not feel uniform.
