Patrick & Erin

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
I have so many special memories from that weekend that I will always hold dear. My mother had one of my grandmother’s handkerchiefs monogrammed with my grandmother’s initials, my mother’s initials and my new married initials. The initials were monogrammed in blue so I could use it as my “something blue” and I carried it with my bouquet. It was one of my favorite special touches from the day. Patrick and I had a first look on the grand staircase in The Cloister and that will be something I will never forget. Seeing each other for the first time was so special. We had a bagpiper that led all of our bridal party and guests from the ceremony, with a glass of champagne in hand, over to the Beach Club where dinner and dancing took place. We also had the most gorgeous custom monograms throughout the weekend. During the reception, we had custom cocktail napkins, hand towels in the bathroom, and cups at the bar. We also had custom koozies that were in our welcome bags for all of our guests.

How did you hear about Sea Island?
My parents have been coming to Sea Island since 1985! My sister and I grew up vacationing on Sea Island, and we always looked forward to spending summers here. I started bringing Patrick once we began dating, and he quickly fell in love with all that Sea Island has to offer. We have so many memories from times spent on the Island, and we feel blessed to have been able to get married at one of our favorite places!

If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
When I was young, I enjoyed being at the beach with my family. I also loved Camp Cloister, where we made tie-die shirts on the beach and sweet treats at Cookie Cutters. I also remember dressing up for formal dinners in the old Cloister dining room, and Bingo with Billy Bingo!

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
I knew I wanted jewel tones of red and green without being too Christmassy, since our wedding was only 11 days before Christmas. I love florals and wanted everything to be lush and full of greenery. I wanted a classic and elegant wedding. The Cloister is so beautiful that it really made our vision come to life. It was the perfect backdrop for our wedding. We made sure to throw in some fun elements like green velvet, plaid pajamas, a bagpiper to lead our guests from the ceremony to the reception, tortoiseshell turtle ornaments as escort cards, and LED Christmas bulb necklaces at the reception. Sarah Allen Preston Designs and the Sea Island Wedding team, plus several amazing people, made our wedding day even more wonderful than I could have ever imagined!

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
We were so pleased with the entire weekend as a whole! Even though our Welcome Party/Rehearsal Dinner at Rainbow Island was rained out and had to be moved to the Mizner Ballroom, everything was absolutely perfect! Our experience with the Sea Island Wedding and Event Team was so incredibly wonderful. They were easy to work with and really understood our vision. Everything came together perfectly! I don’t know what we would have done without them! They are wonderful and kind people who have now become our friends!
