  • a bride and groom kiss on the lawn at Sea Island

Patton & Jimmy

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
There are so many! Here are 2:

Having Kacee as my wedding manager! We had been friends and cabin-mates at Camp Seafarer in middle school, but hadn’t kept in touch over the years. Talk about a small world! It was such fun not only getting to reconnect with her but also having the opportunity to plan my wedding with her.

Once Jimmy and I made our grand exit, we were pretty jazzed up and needed some time for the adrenaline rush to recede, so we had a drink on the dock and then returned to the Cloister Garden to relive the experience and talk about our favorite memories from the day. We both had our own special moments that we were only then able to share with each other – right in the exact place we had said our vows a few hours before. I will forever treasure that moment.

How did you hear about Sea Island?
My family visited frequently when I was younger. When I began college, my parents decided to semi-retire here. I’ve always dreamed of getting married at Sea Island – the second Jimmy proposed under the Avenue of the Oaks, I said, “Please can our wedding be here?!”

If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
Eloise!!! I absolutely adored her and the amazing red-lipped kisses she would plant on my cheek…and all the older gentlemen’s bald heads! She would always bring me rainbow sherbet with just the right amount of raspberry.

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
I didn’t have a ‘theme,’ per se, but I love ginger jars, bright colors and pattern, so those were all elements we incorporated at the reception. My mom is the same way – we just wanted to have fun with it. We kept the ceremony decor pretty subdued because the Cloister Garden is gorgeous enough on its own. And we were blessed from above with the most spectacular weather. Having everything outside can be risky, but it was absolutely perfect.

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
Yes! Planning a wedding is overwhelming – I’m sure I had my moments – but the Sea Island and Vine Garden Market teams took my thousands of crazy ideas and brought them together beautifully – Sperry tent and all. I just wish we could do it again next June!

Thank you!
