This light and airy, cream-colored brick cottage is welcoming with a clever nautical theme throughout – starting with a porthole window adjacent to the leaded glass front doors. Whitewashed wood floors throughout much of the downstairs will remind you of beach cottages of yesteryear, but this family-friendly home offers every modern convenience. Ample seating areas make it ideal for multi-generational family gatherings and vacationing groups of friends.

The living room features a black marble fireplace surrounded by plush upholstered couches in traditional ticking. More formal cream-colored wingchairs contrast nicely with the weathered wood cocktail table and rattan accent pieces. Step down onto the tabby floor in the den and get a breathtaking view of live oaks through a wall of windows and French doors leading to the flagstone patio. The family room at the far end of the cottage is casually furnished with a sectional sofa positioned for viewing the large flatscreen television.

The dining room is just steps away, with a sleek blond wood table that easily seats ten. Unusual wall sconces crafted from oyster shells remind you that seafood is likely on the menu! Adjacent to the dining room is the spectacular kitchen. With a skylight overhead as well as a bay window this bright and sun-filled room will accommodate the most discriminating chef. A convenient center island offers barstool seating. High-end appliances including KitchenAid double ovens and a four-burner gas range are combined with plenty of counter space and modern cabinetry. There is even a fireplace. For a change of pace, there is a gas grill stationed just outside.

The downstairs master bedroom is a spacious sanctuary set apart from the rest of the house. Featuring a king bed and sitting area, the main attraction is the luxurious bath featuring an enormous glass shower with a rainfall showerhead, double sinks, and a vanity area lit with natural light. Two additional bedrooms are on the ground level including the “tiny” room just off the family room – perfect for late-night TV-watching teens who will appreciate their own cozy space. The other more traditional bedroom can be configured as a king or two California twins. Three additional bedrooms are upstairs.

Outside, a beautiful oval pool is surrounded by tabby pavers and plenty of lounge chairs. The fence adds an extra measure of privacy and the swaying palm trees add ambiance to the peaceful setting. Pool may be heated with advance request prior to arrival and an additional fee.

With its proximity to The Cloister and Beach Club and an easy stroll to the beach, Cottage 142 has everything needed to create an unforgettable Sea Island experience. Beach access is located on Eighth Street.
