Mimi & Andrew

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
When Andrew and I left our reception, we headed up to our honeymoon suite and decided to sit out on our balcony with a bottle of champagne to talk about the amazing day we just had. After awhile, we could see our friends and family leaving the River Bar, and they didn’t realize we could hear them talking about what a great time they all had. Getting to rehash the bash both together and through the overheard stories of some of our favorite people was the perfect way to end the day.

How did you hear about Sea Island?
I’m the youngest of three, so my family had the tradition of vacationing in Sea Island every summer before I was even born. Some of my earliest memories include earning nickels from my parents for each rabbit I spotted as we cruised down the causeway, swimming the daddy-daughter race on July 4th at the Beach Club and delicately walking along the water hose that led down to the beach from the pool so the sand wouldn’t scorch my feet.

If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
I went to Camp Cloister as many times as my parents would allow me in two weeks every year. I would wake up so excited for camp that I would ride my bike down Sea Island drive as fast as I could when the sun was still coming up. I was usually the first camper to arrive and last to leave every day. I just loved it.

And one of my funniest Sea Island memories was watching my best friend beat a man 10+ years older than her in the 4th of July belly flop contest. It was the loudest smack followed by the loudest applause I’ve ever heard… she earned that trophy!

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
Since the reception was outside by the ocean we wanted the decor to be light and airy with lots of light blues and creams/whites. The wedding team really understood what we wanted: simple but elegant, with lots of candles and cream/white flowers. The clear tent lined with lights was perfect for the outdoor setting, as it allowed us to enjoy the ocean views and sky – which luckily was perfectly clear that night. It was all absolutely beautiful.

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
Our experience could not have been better. Every part of the day was seamless and the wedding team nailed every detail. We wouldn’t change a thing and look forward to celebrating many anniversaries at Sea Island.
