Matthew & Rachel

What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
The entire day was truly spectacular, so it is difficult to pinpoint a specific memory. During my first steps down the aisle, The Cloister Chapel doors opened from afar and I locked eyes with Matt, which was truly magical. After the ceremony and photos, we went to The Cloister Wine cellar which completely exceeded my expectations. The wine cellar was spacious, inviting and had the most amazing ambiance. During my dad’s speech, he touched on the history of Sea Island and how it was truly a place for kings and queens. I wholeheartedly agree, as we left feeling like royalty.

How did you hear about Sea Island?
Per my dad’s recommendation, we initially came to Sea Island for a long weekend to check out the golf and spa. Needless to say, we fell in love with the resort and have continued to come back.

If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
We’ve only been here a handful of times but wish we knew about Sea Island during our childhood!

What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
We prefer a more classic, timeless look. We opted for lush greenery and a candlelit dinner. The Cloister truly speaks for itself, as it exudes elegance in the best way possible.

After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
After postponing our large wedding in Chicago, we found that Sea Island was the perfect place to host an intimate wedding. Even with a tight one-month planning period, the team at Sea Island executed everything to perfection. Our wedding day was more special than we could have imagined. If we could go back in time, we would have planned our wedding at Sea Island from the start, as their attention to detail, response time and friendly manner is unrivaled. The team at Sea Island truly anticipated our every need, allowing us to enjoy every minute of our special day and we will always be grateful.

The design teams thought of things that would never have occurred to me. They listened, took lots of notes, looked at the pictures I brought in, got a total feel for what I was trying to convey, and then created magic beyond my wildest dreams. Took my breath away!
